HELLO! We are back!
In today’s 380th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will continue where we left off from the last blog post to talk about the other P-Bandai HGUC ‘Origins’ kit that they just announced.
So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?
HG 1/144 RX-78-02 Gundam (Cucuruz Doan Island Version)(HGUC)

Release Date: June 2022
Estimated price: JPY 2,530 (MYR RM 84.87* / USD $ 19.49* / EUR € 18.46*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

If the announcement of the HGUC ‘Origins’ Doan Zaku II is one that we feel is a disappointment for us. The HGUC ‘Origins’ Gundam Cucuruz Island version is one that we expected it to be like we imagined it to be, which is no different from its retail HGOrigins counterpart, with fewer parts.
But it’s not to say that it is all that similar because when we compared this to its retail version, we do notice that in terms of color scheme, the HGUC Gundam Cucuruz Island version is a bit different. Yes, it still retains the iconic tricolor scheme that we are familiar with here. But the blue color scheme is a bit lighter, and the white bits seem to be a bit yellowish.
But again, it’s hard to justify getting this if you already owned the retail version. Because honestly, it looks pretty similar.

The only reason why we can imagine why one would want to get this is that you do get a pretty sweet waterslide decal design that is exclusive for this release.
But knowing Bandai, we wouldn’t be surprised if they were to release the waterslide decal set as a standalone release. Heck, we are pretty damn sure that we’ll see a third-party company release this decal set somewhere down the line.
So again, there is no real point for one to get this kit.

And just like the HGUC ‘Origins’ Doans Zaku II, we will skip on this, and so should you guys. You’d be better off saving your time and money by getting the superior retail version, the HGOrigins Gundam. It’s readily available, and if you wait long enough, Bandai (or some other third-party decal company) will eventually release the waterslide decal set somewhere down the line.
And best of all, you’d don’t have to worry about fighting with bots to get this bloody kit.

And that concludes our 380th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment for today. It’s a pretty disappointing release announcement week from P-Bandai this time around.
Admittedly, coming in, we had high hopes for the HGUC Doan’z Zaku II to be able to impress us, but instead, we are left disappointed by what we see.
Yes, we might not have high hopes for the Cucuruz Gundam, but again, we’re expecting it to be more and less the same thing. So we find ourselves not disappointed by what we see here.

But we still hope that we’ll see a much better release announcement from them soon enough. We have a feeling we might not have to wait that long.
Anyways, we’ll be back again next week (hopefully) with a new blog post. So, please do look forward to that!
