Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.394

The little Red Rider hood?

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 394th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla post, this time, we’re going to look at another P-Bandai’s latest Gunpla release announcement! However, this time we will look at a new manga MS design that P-Bandai finally decided to adapt into Gunpla.

So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?

HG 1/144 RX-80RR Red Rider (HGUC)

Release Date: October 2022
Estimated price: JPY 2,585 (MYR RM 84.08* / USD $ 19.02* / EUR € 18.48*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Even though this announcement doesn’t come as a surprise to us all here, we’re, however, surprised at the time it took P-Bandai to adapt this into Gunpla. We thought that seeing how the Mobile Suit Gundam Aggressor manga is being discussed and received amongst the community, you thought P-Bandai would want to capitalize on the hype, but it seems like they’re catching up on it pretty late.

But then again, better late than ever, eh?

And despite the very familiar model name reference, we are sure it’s not related to last week’s P-Bandai releases.

But enough of that, let us now talk about what we think of this kit, shall we?

So what is the difference between this and the other Pale Riders variants we’ve seen to date?

Well, if we are, to be honest? Nothing much, really.

It still retains many of the same characteristics, so if you’re familiar with any of the P-Bandai HGUC Pale Rider kits, you’ll find this kit to be no different than the rest you’ve built.

But the real selling point of this P-Bandai HGUC Red Rider is seen in some of the minor changes they made here. We all feel that the changes made are enough to justify us getting this.

So what changes that we’re talking about here? Well, the first change we see and the one that we’re fans of is the red/white color scheme they go for here. Why? Because it matches well with the ARIES mode (you get a red-colored primary camera color) feature and its badass beam sword beam color (which also comes in red).

Speaking of the badass beam sword, we all felt that, by far one of the most badass weapons we’ve seen on a Gunpla kit to date! It looked like Cloud’s badass buster sword!

Even the machine gun/beam dagger looks fantastic here, the design reminds us of the Crossbone’s Buster Gun, and anything that reminds us of that badass thing wins a lot of brownie points from us.

We also liked the touch of the reactive armor plates they molded on some of the armor parts here and there throughout the kit. Honestly, all the reactive armor makes the Red Rider look like a tank more than an MS, and the additions make the whole thing looks more realistic and more grounded even in our eyes.

Well, we meant in terms of looks, not all the insane feats of the Red Rider in the manga. Those are over the top and not grounded at all.

Overall, though, we are interested in getting this. But since we’re late to the party, we missed the short preorder window for this badass Pale Rider variant. But alas, we shall keep an eye out for this, and as soon as P-Bandai opens another preorder window for this, you bet your asses we would be first to standby on its shopee page and be disappointed in real-time.

How we all here can’t wait for that.

And that concludes our 394th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment for today. Again we see P-Bandai release something that we here think is an absolutely badass-looking HGUC kit! P-Bandai is really on a roll here!

We are happy to see that P-Bandai has something really badass coming, although we wish we were getting a piece of exciting Retail news instead. But as long we’re seeing a new Gunpla, I guess it’s not all that bad.

Anyways, we’ll be back again this coming Saturday (hopefully) with a new blog post. So, please do look forward to that!
