Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.397

The tri-color smile maker

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 397th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we’ll talk about one latest Retail Gunpla release announcement! Yes, after a long wait, we finally get some fascinating news about the upcoming The Witch from Mercury HG kits!

However, we won’t be talking about all the new reveals for the HGTWFM lineup for today’s blog post. For today, we will only talk about one that we all here are looking forward to the most.

So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?

HG 1/44 Gundam Aerial (HGTWFM)

Release Date: October 2022
Estimated price: JPY 1,430 (MYR RM 45.93* / USD $ 10.34* / EUR € 10.27*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Admittedly, after the very disappointing showcase at the Hobby Next Phase 2022 Summer event, we are all not excited to see more same-ish HG The Witch from Mercury news.

Because at this point, all we really want is for Bandai to either give us more details on the upcoming kit or show us more new badass MS designs that they have planned for the series.

And it looks like Bandai realized this too. That’s why they went all out with this round of reveals and announcements for the HGTWFM kits, and most importantly, we also get to learn some new exciting detail about the upcoming HGTWFM Gundam Aerial!

Admittedly, we might not learn anything new about its articulation system and joints for the base HGTWFM Gundam Aerial. From the looks of it remains mainly unchanged from the last time we saw this kit. But the newly revealed gimmicks and the lightly revised look of the HGTWFM Gundam Aerial are the reason why it prompted us to talk about this HGTWFM kit once again.

So what do we learn about the gimmicks?

Well, we know now what the HGTWFM Gundam Aerial shield unit does.

The thing that surprises everyone here is that despite heavy speculation, the HGTWFM Gundam Aerial shield unit doesn’t transform into a backpack/flight unit. Instead, the HGTWFM Gundam Aerial shield unit could transform into 11 pieces of fin funnels, extra armor parts, and weapons expansion for the HGTWFM Gundam Aerial.

As we said earlier, it looks like The Witch From Mercury MS Design team isn’t mucking about with the Gundam Aerial’s design here.

We also learned that the Gundam Aerial comes in two modes. One mode is the standard mode, the look we all saw when they first revealed the HGTWFM Gundam Aerial. The second mode is the ‘Destroy’ mode (because it reminds us of the Unicorns Destroy mode), which converts the black-clear bits into black with reddish-orange lines embedded in the clear bits.

Since we haven’t seen the anime(well, no one does at this point if we were, to be honest, haha), we don’t know the details of the two different features or abilities between the two modes. But admittedly, we think that the ‘Destroy’ mode makes the HGTWFM Gundam Aerial looks bloody badass.

Although we do not understand why Bandai didn’t make the same colored bits for the clear parts for the leg unit instead of asking us to use stickers to convert the black-clear parts into the ‘destroy’ mode.

Regardless of that issue, we are still looking forward to this HGTWFM kit and the upcoming anime!

We have a feeling that this would really be a banger!

And that concludes our 397th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment for today. Finally, we get to see the retail side comes out swinging! It’s a bit unfortunate due to the time constraints (we all here are a bit taken today, unfortunately) that we aren’t able to talk about all the other badass HGTWFM kits. But worry not! We will be back soon to cover the rest of the retail releases on the next segment!

Anyways, we’ll be back again next week (hopefully) with a new blog post. So, please do look forward to that!
