Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.442

An MS-sized burger maker

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 442nd edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will discuss the Retail side’s latest Gunpla release announcement! We find it pretty interesting that Bandai revealed this right after the final episode of Season one, especially in light of what happened toward the end.

Seriously, what a way to announce a new kit, eh?

So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?

HG 1/144 XVX-016RN Gundam Aerial Rebuild (HGTWFM)

Release Date: March 2023
Estimated price: JPY 1,870 (MYR RM 62.01* / USD $ 14.19* / EUR € 13.18*)

That is how you end a Season with a splat.

Just when we thought that this would be a slightly light-hearted Gundam-themed yuri rom-com show. Sunrise decided this was the best time to show us the horror that was in store for us. And we fear this Anime will not end on a fun and happy note. We suspect that towards the end of this, we’ll definitely see some of the main characters developing some form of PTSD toward the end of this.

Although I know some of you here might think this show would take the IBO end route. However, we might see this take the War in the Pocket end route instead.

Anyways, let us now move on to the Gunpla discussions, shall we?

Even though the HGTWFM Aerial Rebuild carries the name Aerial, this new version looked nothing like it. The only thing we see here that looks like it inherited some DNA from the HGTWFM Aerial is the clear part of the Rebuild’s thigh area.

The rest? From what we can see here, it’s all new.

Honestly? The only reason we feel that it retains the Aerial name is probably because of the story. If the storyline isn’t the issue, this would have a different name. Admittedly, when we saw the HGTWFM Aerial Rebuild, we were sad to see the look of the bog standard Aerial retire so soon. We were expecting the Aerial to get minor updates to its overall look. Not a complete overhaul like this.

But even with that said, we admit that the new look looked badass.

Because it looked like the Aerial here is given the Full-Armor 7th Gundam treatment. Gone is the experimental light-armored look of the bog standard Aerial. Now we get the ready-for-combat heavier armored badass Aerial look.

It’s not just the look that got upgraded here. Even its weapons get a massive upgrade, for instance, the HGTWFM Aerial Rebuilds Beam Rifle. It’s a departure from the cute and minuscule beam rifle that the standard Aerial used because now they gave the Aerial an almost like a beam-cannon-sized beam rifle. But the funny thing is that you can expend it more, attach some shield bits on the beam rifle, and you would be able to turn it into a proper beam cannon.

Speaking of the shield bits, yes, they even upgraded the look of the shield bits. Honestly, the upgraded look looked even more impressive than the standard version.

All in all, we are all impressed and excited about this version. We are really looking forward to getting this one.

And that concludes our 442nd edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment for today. Another pretty impressive showing from the HGTWFM line-up! If they keep this up, we might see another batch of really impressive kits from this series soon!

But man, the way they end the 1st season of this Anime is unexpected. Yes, we expected some characters to meet their end in the last episode, but that end scene? With everything that has happened previously between the two main characters? Now we are excited to see the interactions between the two.

Because at first, we thought despite the happy start, we had a feeling that we might see this take the IBO route, but after seeing the end, well, now we know that we are going to see this take the War in the Pocket route for sure.

Anyways. We’ll be back again this coming Saturday(hopefully) with a new blog post, so do look forward to that!
