Not surprised, but we’re impressed.
HELLO! We are back!
In today’s 445th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla post, we will discuss P-Bandai’s latest Gunpla release announcement. Yes, we know we are slow to the party on this one, but it is still something we feel we should discuss.
So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?
HG 1/144 MS-06GD High Mobility [Surface Type] Zaku II [Egba Custom](HGCDI)

Release Date: April 2023
Estimated price: JPY 2,970 (MYR RM 97.53* / USD $ 22.90* / EUR € 21.01*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

After a long wait, it’s nice to see P-Bandai finally drop this.
Although, we admit it is disappointing that they are releasing the HGCDI High Mobility Surface Type Zaku II as a singular release instead of a set. But then again, it may be too expensive to get as a set. So that may explain why P-Bandai decided to release them individually.
Yes, our wallets would thank P-Bandai for making the part where acquiring and completing this set more financially viable for us. But at the same time, we wished they would release it all in one go. At least we know what we are getting, and it would be nice if we don’t have to fight tooth and nail with the scalpers to make sure we don’t miss any.
Anyways, enough of what we all feel about this being a singular release. Let us now talk about what we think of this HGCDI kit.

Honestly? We think this kit looked fantastic, and we’re impressed by the P-Bandai side’s splendid work in translating this into Gunpla form.
Why?
Because from only looking at their promotional materials, it looked exactly like its Cucuruz Doan’s Island anime counterpart.
So how is this possible, you might wonder?
For one, you get some badass camo decals to make it look like its anime counterpart, and man, they looked fantastic on the kit. However, since this is a P-Bandai kit, you’re not getting an HG kit with some cheap sticker decals. Instead, you’re getting a waterslide decal set for the camouflage decals and some color-correcting decals, and yes, it also applies to the marking decals.

But we know that for some of you here, you will notice that it retains a lot of bits from the HGOrigins Zaku II variants. And yes, we admit that from what we can see, most of it is from the HGOrigins Zaku II kit.
But that is only true for the upper half of the kit because of the rest? P-Bandai heavily modified them up until they looked unrecognizable. The modified parts are HGOrigins Zaku’s leg and waist unit. They also made minor changes to the HGOrigins Zaku II’s shoulder shield unit and head unit.
In terms of equipment, since we are getting what Egba’s Custom Zaku comes with, you’ll get a kit that comes with a dope machine gun equipped with a heat dagger attachment and a badass heat saber.

It is clear that P-Bandai puts a lot of effort into making this a reality. Frankly, we are impressed, and admittedly, we are looking forward to getting this. Hopefully, we will be able to secure one without any issues.
And that concludes our 445th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment for today. What an announcement from P-Bandai here. Looking at how good this kit looked, we are now quite excited to see how good the rest will look!
It’s a shame that P-Bandai decided to lock away this version of the Zaku II as a P-Bandai release, but we admit that we are not that surprised. At the very least, we are still getting the HGCDI Guncannon as a standard release.
Anyways. We’ll be back again next Saturday (hopefully) with a new blog post. So do look forward to that!
