Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.451

Finally, they decided to revive these!

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 451st edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we’ll take the time to talk about P-Bandai’s recent reopening of a preorder for a kit they released sometime back. One that Bandai originally made to support both the RG Gundam Mk. II.

Plus, they released it back before we started this blog. So, it’s nice that we get to talk about this now.

So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?

HG 1/144 FX-05D G Defenser & Flying Armor (HGUC)[REISSUE]

Original Release Date: July 2012
Reissued Release Date: June 2023
Estimated price: JPY 1,980 (MYR RM 65.11* / USD $ 14.69* / EUR € 13.83*)

For the longest time, we wondered why the G-Defenser and the Flying Armor didn’t get the RG treatment. Now we finally know why.

It’s because they locked the release of these two as a P-Bandai exclusive kit.

I know it’s easy to hate Bandai for doing this, but funnily enough, we don’t think one should be mad at P-Bandai for making these P-Bandai exclusive kits. Especially considering they repurposed these two from the retail-released HGUC kits. These two aren’t new molds.

So what Retail HGUC kit they took these two parts from, you ask?

Specifically, they took the HGUC G-Defenser bit from the HGUC Super Gundam and the HGUC Flying Armor bit from the HGUC Gundam Mk.II w/ Flying Armor bit. So, if you’ve built these two retail kits before, you will find out this is the same thing.

So if this is basically the same thing, how would it work with the RG kits, you wonder?

That is why P-Bandai included RG decals in this set to make the Flying Armor and the G-Defenser part work with the RG kits it was supposed to support. Even though we admit that the G-Defenser part doesn’t fit well with the RG kit aesthetically, surprisingly, the HGUC Flying Armor looked quite good paired with an RG kit.

Maybe it’s because the HGUC Flying Armor inherited all the badass detail from its retail counterpart. But still, it’s nice to have something from this set that you know would look good paired with the RG kit.

But the thing is, P-Bandai also claimed that you could pair the two of these with the HGUC Gundam Mk.II Revive kits. Although, admittedly, we are not surprised if we can pair it up since we know that the HGUC Mk.II Revive kits share a lot of the same bits. However, it’s nice that P-Bandai officially confirmed that we could use both the HGUC Flying Armor (From the HGUC Gundam Mk. II w/ Flying Armor set) and the HGUC G-Defenser (from the HGUC Super Gundam) on the HGUC Revive kits.

At least we know that if we do get this, we can use both of these for both the RG kit and the HGUC Mk.II Revive kits.

And that concludes our 451st edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. Once again, we are going through another week of slow Gunpla news. But at least this week, we get to talk about something that we here find interesting.

Hopefully, we get to see Bandai reveal some good stuff soon.

Anyways. We’ll be back again next Thursday (hopefully) with a new blog post. Yes, we will be off this Saturday since Kimi will be off on Medical leave. He has been feeling under the weather these past few weeks and will be going for a checkup.

Hopefully, it’s nothing serious.

Oh, one more thing before we go, it would be a tremendous help to us all here in the blog if you guys were to leave a like on our posts and subscribe to the blog if you find yourselves enjoying our gunpla/plamo-related posts. We would appreciate it if you guys would take the time to show your support by leaving an upvote on our R/Gunpla posts and by leaving a like on our Facebook and Instagram posts or pages!
