Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.457

Another P-Bandai GM

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 457th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will be taking the time to talk about one P-Bandai’s latest Gunpla release announcements. Yes, we know that the P-Bandai exclusive kit we’ll be covering today was a last week’s Gunpla announcement. But since we went off last weekend, we didn’t get to talk about this P-Bandai exclusive release.

That is one of the reasons why we decided to talk about it today instead of covering all the latest retail releases.

So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?

HG 1/144 RGM-79 GM (Morroco Front Specs) (HGCDI)

Release Date: June 2023
Estimated price: JPY 2,200 (MYR RM 74.60* / USD $ 16.75* / EUR € 15.43*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

When this version of the GM was teased last year alongside the HGCDI Guncannon, we all hoped we would be getting this version of the HGCDI GM as a Retail release.

But no, it looks to us that P-Bandai intends to lock all the HGCDI GM variants releases as P-Bandai releases. But quite frankly? We are not surprised to see another Cucuruz Doan GM variant getting that P-Bandai treatment. Although, we hoped that Bandai would want to reconsider locking their best-looking kits as P-Bandai exclusive release. Because honestly, man, we can imagine that most people would love to get their hands on this kit.

But enough on that, let us talk about what we think of this P-Bandai release.

Despite the HGCDI Morocco Front GM looking quite close to the Sleggar version (which we all expected), we are still pleasantly surprised that P-Bandai managed to make it look fresh.

But then again, it’s hard to botch the look when it inherited many of the HGOrigins Gundam’s already badass traits. Also, it is nice that they included almost all the Morocco Front’s GM equipment in this release. At least we know we don’t have to get two different kits to get the variant we want since we could always swap the types of equipment around.

Yes, we know that looking at this version, you might be wondering the difference between this version and the Sleggar’s.

Besides the color and the decal design change, you get a slightly different cockpit hatch design and a backpack unit where you can equip the inherited Gundam Early-type cannon unit on it. The rest? It’s basically the same.

But even with that said, we admit we like what we see here. It is a pretty badass-looking HGCDI GM Variant. It’s a bit unfortunate that we missed the preorder window for this.

Honestly, it is a bit sad that Bandai decided to release this under the P-Bandai banner because we feel new fans would be missing out on one of the most badass-looking Origins GM variants here.

And that concludes our 457th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. It’s nice to be back and see our Gunpla news feed filled with badass Gunpla release announcements. We look forward to kicking things off in the next blog post with our thoughts on the upcoming Retail releases!

Anyways. We’ll be back again next Saturday (hopefully) with a new blog post. Do look forward to that!
