Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.466

This is what happens when a Lfrith is single for far too long.

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 466th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we’ll discuss one of P-Bandai’s latest Gunpla release announcements. Finally, P-Bandai is getting its hands in the HGTWFM pie, and today we’ll be looking at their first HGTWFM P-Bandai kit.

And it is one that we understand why it’s P-Bandai and don’t really mind seeing this released as one.

So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?

HG 1/144 XGF-01[113] Gundam Lfrith Jiu (HGTWFM)

Release Date: July 2023
Estimated price: JPY 1,980 (MYR RM 64.79* / USD $ 14.53* / EUR € 13.17*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Despite sharing the same Lfrith name, this doesn’t look like the Lfrith we know. Even when we compared it to the Lfrith mass production version (which they based the Jiu on), it doesn’t have anything we can really pin down that this inherited from it.

But then again, does it matter?

Since both the other two Lfriths variants (the UR and Thorn) don’t look anything like the Lfrith, why should it matter that the Jiu doesn’t look like the standard Lfrith?

Right?

What matters more for us is that the Lfrith Jiu looks badass, and you know what? P-Bandai delivers this in spades.

Oh yes, the HGTWFM Lfrith Jiu is definitely one of those HGTWFM kits that would go into one of our best-looking kits in the series list. We like that despite the name, the Lfrith Jiu doesn’t have obvious visual indicators that it is a Gundam-type MS. In fact, it is safe to say that this might be one of the first best-looking non-traditional Gundam-type MS we see from The Witch from Mercury series.

And we love it.

Because in terms of looks, we think it looked more like a mix between a Kamen Rider and something from the Gundam Build Divers series. Not to mention, the white/purple/yellow color scheme makes the whole thing look badass.

Even its Large Composite Weapon, aka its weapon/backpack/additional arms design, is fascinating. Despite its impracticality, we like how versatile it is. Best of all, from what we can see here, the whole thing had a good articulation.

All in all, the HGTWFM Lfirth Jiu is one of those kits that we here think will be another interesting HGTWFM release. Seeing how well received the HGTWFM kits are within the Gunpla community, we wouldn’t be surprised if this ends up the same way.

Heck, it did so well that HGTWFM Lfrith Jiu’s preorder window closed as soon as P-Bandai opened the preorder window for this kit. If that’s not an indication of how people wanted this kit, we don’t know what is.

And that concludes our 466th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. Admittedly, no matter what one feels about The Witch From Mercury anime, it is hard to deny that their Gunplas are by far the best things we got in a long time.

For the first time in a long time, we got a Gunpla series that looked badass, solid, and fun to build. Not to mention, unique too.

And it seems that it is looking pretty much the same for its P-Bandai offering.

Anyways. We’ll be back again this coming Thursday (hopefully) with a new blog post. So do look forward to that!
