The Gunpla releases from the Shizuoka Hobby Show 2023! Part: 1
HELLO! We are back!
In today’s 48th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will discuss some of the latest Gunpla release announcements from the 61st Shizuoka Hobby Show 2023 here in today’s blog post! We’re impressed by the amount of Gunpla release announcements from the retail, P-Bandai, and The Gundam Base Limited side in this event.
It’s like we are seeing Bandai getting back to normal again.
However, despite the impressive number of kits displayed at this event, we admit that not all the kits we see here looked impressive. This round of release announcements looks to us like they focused more on quantity over quality.
But in today’s segment, we will not focus so much on the kits we’re not excited about yet. Instead, we will focus on some of the ones we’re looking forward to getting. Well, we’ll cover the three that we are interested in.
So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?
[RETAIL] HG 1/144 RGM-79 GM (Shoulder Cannon/Missle Pod Equipment) (HGOriginsMSD)

Release Date: November 2023
Estimated price: JPY 2,530 (MYR RM 83.95* / USD $ 18.87* / EUR € 17.17*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation
Seeing the announcement of the HGOriginsMSD GM is probably one of those Gunpla release announcements from the retail side that we are all here quite happy about.
Because after seeing its debut in the Cucuruz Doan Island anime, this is one GM variant we wanted to have on our hands.
But we would admit that at first, we didn’t have much hope we see this version released as a retail kit, especially after seeing the Sleggar version and the Morrocoan Front version getting the P-Bandai treatment. So, imagine our surprise and delight when we learned that we’re getting this released under the retail banner.
Finally, we’re getting a badass-looking HGOrigins GM variant that anyone could easily own.
Yes, we said it, this HGOirignsMSD GM variant looks fantastic.

We would even go as far as to say that, even when we compared this version to the P-Bandai variants we’ve covered before, this version retains many of the same looks and characteristics as the P-Bandai versions. But yet, it manages to look even better than them.
It is baffling. Maybe we prefer it in its standard colors over the ones we see with P-Bandai versions. Maybe?
So you might be wondering, what is the difference between this version and the P-Bandai versions?
The difference between this and the P-Bandai versions is the iconic standard GM color scheme, origins sticker decals, and types of equipment the retail version gets. But the main thing that sells us the idea of getting this version of the GM is the types of equipment it gets. Because despite our earlier disappointments (with the P-Bandai kits), the earlier releases of the Origins GM were as P-Bandai kits, we are happy to see the retail side is the complete version of the P-Bandai variants.
And that is why we are looking forward to getting this version as soon as the official PO page for this kit opens!
[P-Bandai] MG 1/100 Kampfer Schwer (MG)

Release Date: Unknown [preorders open on May 15th in Japan]
Estimated price: JPY 6,270 (MYR RM 208.04* / USD $ 46.76* / EUR € 42.56*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation
Finally, after a long and arduous wait, we have word on this GHL Build Divers MG Kampfer Schwer’s release date.
We were worried since there is no new news about this release that we thought that P-Bandai shelved the idea of releasing this badass GHL Build Divers MG kit.
But it looks like P-Bandai is still keen on releasing this bad boy, and we’re happy to see we finally have a date to look forward to. A date that we’re sure we are not the only ones that are looking forward to.

In terms of looks, so far, there is nothing much we can say since all we can find of MG Kampfer Schwer’s picture here is this one taken by the Bandai hobby site and the one seen in the teaser. But looking at these two pictures, we’re sure we’ll get a badass MG kit. Although we hope this does well enough, so there is a high possibility we might see Bandai interested in releasing an updated version of the MG Kampfer.
All in all, we are looking forward to seeing the PO for this open soon!
[P-Bandai] MG 1/100 MVF-X08 Eclipse Gundam Reactor 2 (MG)

Release Date: TBA
Estimated price: TBA
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation
When it debuted in the Eclipse Gundam manga, we knew this would definitely be the version that gets that P-Bandai release. True enough, P-Bandai proved us right when it debuted the MG Eclipse Reactor Two at this event.
And after spending some time looking at the MG Eclipse Gundam Reactor Two, we admit that we prefer this version more than its standard counterpart. Because despite it looking similar to the Standard Eclipse Gundam, there are some changes made to MG Eclipse Gundam Reactor Two.
The changes we noticed on the MG Eclipse Gundam Reactor Two are its head unit design and weapons.
At the time being, we can’t say what we think of this MG kit in detail yet, since we haven’t seen what this version of the MG Eclipse will be getting. However, from what we can see here, this does look promising.
And that concludes our 468th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. There are still a lot of releases from this event that we haven’t covered, which we will in the upcoming blog post.
We will continue where we left off today on this upcoming Saturday’s post!
Anyways. We’ll be back again the next coming Saturday (hopefully) with a new blog post. So, do look forward to that!
