Deja vu?
HELLO! We are back, and goddamn, it is nice to be back!
In today’s 475th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla post, we’ll cover some of the latest Gunpla release announcements from The Gundam Base Limited. The kits we’re covering today are those we have seen during the Shizuoka Hobby Show 2023 event. But due to all the other badass retail and P-Bandai releases announced at that event, we didn’t get the chance to talk about them.
So, we’re admittedly glad that we’ve finally got to talk about them. Well, after they are officially released, that is.
So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?
HG 1/144 The Gundam Base Limited RGM-79GM/RGM-179 GM II/RGM-86R GM III Set (HGUC)

Release Date: 10th June 2023
Estimated price: JPY 4,730 (MYR RM 155.81* / USD $ 33.89* / EUR € 31.63*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

As fans of mass production MS, we admit that seeing this Gunpla release announcement made us all smile. We needed more sets like this, which enable fans of the GM MS series to own all three MS variants from the MSG, Zeta, and ZZ series in one go.
Admittedly, unlike the beautiful HGUC Zeta Gundam set we’d talked about recently, the GM/GMII/GMIII set is the same retail kit compiled into one release. So what that means here is that The Gundam Base Limited didn’t even bother giving it the special coating or clear-color treatment for this release.

And if you’re expecting or hoping that The Gundam Base Limited side include extra parts for the GM, GMII, and GM III, or if you’re expecting this set to come with A.E.U.G / TITANS colors for the GM II, or getting the Unicorn version of the GM III, be prepared to be disappointed because you’re not getting that with this set also.
However, it’s not like The Gundam Base Limited doesn’t give us any reason to justify getting this set because they did include some pretty badass waterslide decals here. So now, you can apply them to your kits. So, that is something.

But even with that said, we still find this set attractive. The funny thing is, we already owned these three kits, yet we still find ourselves interested in getting these.
We wonder why.
Hopefully, we’d get a Gundam Base Limited HGUC Jegan set. That would be one set we do not have to find reasons to justify getting as long they include the Jegan variants from the F91 series.

HG 1/144 The Gundam Base Limited AMS-123X-X Moon Gundam (w/ Long Rifle)(HGUC)

Release Date: 10th June 2023
Estimated price: JPY 3,740 (MYR RM 123.20* / USD $ 26.80* / EUR € 25.01*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Are you a fan of the HGUC Moon Gundam? And are you also a fan of that badass MG Sazabi’s Long Rifle design?
Well, if you’re, rejoice! Because now The Gundam Base Limited has a new HGUC Moon Gundam variant that includes the badass Sazabi’s Long rifle in this version.
However, this Gundam Base Limited 1/144 Long Rifle isn’t a new mold since we learned it’s the same version Bandai produced for the November 2018 ACE Magazine release.

Yes, for those fortunate enough in Japan to get a hold of this edition of the ACE Magazine, you do not need to go out of your way to get this version. But for the rest of the HGUC Moon fans (us included), albeit Japanese fans and from other unfortunate parts of the world, this is the version we’d like to have in our collection.
However, we admit that we wished that The Gundam Base Limited would release this as a standalone release. Because honestly, the only thing that we want is the 1/144 Long Rifle.
But we get why The Gundam Base decided to do this. We reckon they needed to offset the production cost by producing it alongside the HGUC Moon.
Why they needed to do this, you ask?

When we look at the 1/144 Long Rifle, we imagine that all the parts for the 1/144 Long Rifle would be in one runner. And we reckon the ones made for the ACE Magazine, the production cost would’ve been split between Bandai and the Magazine side. But since the ones picking this up now are The Gundam Base Limited chaps, not the retail side, and since they’ve seen the sales data from the November 2018 ACE Magazine sales, we’d imagine that they wanted to make it worthwhile for them to justify the production cost for this thing.
So that is why they pair this with the one kit they know will ensure it sells well.
It sucks, but we imagine that would be the case here.

And yet, despite knowing that, we’d still go out of our way to get this badass variant. Plus, we needed a reason to get another HGUC Moon, and The Gundam Base Limited chaps gave us another good reason to do so here.
And that concludes our 475th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. Admittedly, these aren’t impressive compared to the other Gunpla releases we’ve seen in the past few weeks. But strangely, we still find ourselves interested in getting them regardless.
Strange indeed.
We wanted to apologize for missing two weeks of posting. As some of you may know, Kimi sprained his right (main) hand due to an accident which forced him to take some time off from writing and everything else. So that is why there is a lack of updates on the blog. Even though he was being optimistic in his last week’s Instagram post, his arm was injured badly and needed more than a week to heal properly.
The funny thing is, his arm isn’t healed correctly still until today.
Anyways. We’ll be back again next coming Saturday (hopefully, if Kimi doesn’t get himself into another accident) with a new blog post. So, do look forward to that!
Oh, one more thing before we go, it would be a tremendous help to us all here in the blog if you guys were to leave a like on our posts and subscribe to the blog if you find yourselves enjoying our gunpla/plamo-related posts.
