I’m very impressed, Riko.
HELLO! We are back!
In today’s 478th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla post, we’ll discuss P-Bandai’s latest Gunpla release announcement! Interestingly, we’re getting a kit based on a J-Drama.
Yes, we’re as shocked as you’re. And what’s even more shocking, this kit is based on a J-Drama about an office worker named Riko that discovers her love for Plastic model building. For the first time, we’re getting a brand collaboration kit that we builders can relate to.
And not to mention, that sounds like a show we would love to watch.
So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?
HG 1/144 MS-06 Zaku II (Riko’s Custom)(HGUC)

Release Date: December 2023
Estimated price: JPY 2,350 (MYR RM 75.99* / USD $ 16.28* / EUR € 14.91*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Ever since Bandai released the HGUC Zaku II Revive, we always knew that we would eventually see Bandai release a brand collaboration kit based on this version of the HGUC Zaku II, and sure enough, they finally did!
However, unlike other brand collaborations, this is one release we all can get behind since P-Bandai based this exclusive kit on a show about Plastic model building. Though, we admit that it is fitting that P-Bandai used a mass-production MS when the show is titled Mass Production Riko-Another Plastic Model Girl Assembly Notes.
Yes, the main character built her custom Zaku II, but it is not the same kit. The one that she worked on in the show is the 1982 release 1/100 scale Zaku II. The P-Bandai created this kit to promote the show.
So, what do we think of this Riko’s Custom P-Bandai exclusive HGUC Zaku II? Honestly? It looks good!

The blueish green and the light reddish pink color scheme looked fantastic on Riko’s Zaku II, and what makes it look better is the custom decals of the show’s logo that P-Bandai made for this HGUC kit.
But even with that said, what you’re getting here is still the same standard HGUC Zaku II revive, so we expect this to come with all the same things. We don’t expect this to ship with anything different or new.
But still, it is something we’re looking forward to getting, especially when this HGUC Zaku II Revive variant looks this good!

And that concludes our 478th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. Honestly, this is really a surprise seeing P-Bandai releasing a kit like this. Usually, we’d see The Gundam Base Limited side release kits like this. But then again, this is a J-Drama currently ongoing in Japan. So, they probably wanted to limit it to only releasing this kit for Japanese fans.
Hopefully, we’d see more Gunpla-related dramas and badass merch from shows like that in the future.
Anyways. We’ll be back again next coming Saturday (hopefully) with a new blog post. So, do look forward to that!
