Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.490

Another American getting the P-Bandai treatment

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 490th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we’ll discuss P-Bandai’s latest Gunpla release announcement. Yes, we had to change our plans slightly on the planned content release since this P-Bandai announcement came unexpectedly.

So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?

HG 1/144 GF13-006NA Gundam Maxter (HGFC)

Release Date: November 2023
Estimated price: JPY 2,915 (MYR RM 93.27* / USD $ 20.05* / EUR € 18.41*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

When we got the Gundam Rose released as a P-Bandai release, we honestly didn’t have much hope left in us to hope for the upcoming new HGFC releases to be a Retail release.

So, you can imagine our unsurprised faces when we heard that the upcoming HGFC Gundam Maxter is a P-Bandai release. But enough talking about how unsurprised we’re seeing this get that P-Bandai treatment. Let us now talk about what we think of this release, shall we?

To be honest? After we looked at the HGFC Gundam Maxter in greater detail, we really think P-Bandai did a splendid job with the HGFC Gundam Maxter. But it is hardly surprising (lol), considering they also did a damn good job previously with the HGFC Gundam Rose.

Why do we say this?

Because we can see that P-Bandai has taken great lengths to ensure the HGFC Gundam Maxter looks as close to its anime counterpart. It looked so impressive that we thought we were looking at the actual anime stills in some poses. But looking at an anime-correct kit isn’t the only good thing about it. Admittedly, it does look good too!

We’re also impressed by the level of color accuracy that we see in the HGFC Gundam Maxter’s parts. Again, we can see the amount of care and love made by the designers when creating the modern rendition of the Gunpla Gundam Maxter.

But we know what most of you are thinking. There is no way it’ll look this color-correct (and badass), especially considering this is a P-Bandai HG kit.

And if it is any other kit, we would agree with you. However, seeing how color-accurate the HGFC Gundam Rose is, we have a good feeling that the HGFC Gundam Maxter colors would look as good (and Accurate) as we see on its promotional materials.

And since this is an HGFC kit, we are glad that P-Bandai didn’t slack off on ensuring this is well articulated. But we’re even more impressed that P-Bandai even took the time to include the detachable armor gimmick to reveal its robot six-pack and a beam effect set for the HGFC Gundam Maxter.

All in all, everything here looks impressive, and we’re interested in getting it. But unfortunately for us, it does come at the wrong time, and unfortunately, with a heavy heart, we have to give this one a pass for now.

Goddamn, it is a damn shame that this is a P-Bandai. Because if it’s a retail release, we could buy it after its release. But since it’s P-Bandai, now we have to wait for P-Bandai to reissue its PO page or break the bank by buying it from the Gunpla scalpers. It’s sad to see a badass Gunpla like this limited by its premium release.

And that concludes our 490th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. We have to hand it over to P-Bandai for making this unexpected badass Gunpla release announcement out of nowhere. Though admittedly, at the same time, we are not surprised to see the HGFC Gundam Maxter getting the P-Bandai treatment.

At the rate we’re going, we’ll not be surprised if the Bolt and the Dragon also get the P-Bandai release.

Anyways, we’ll be back next Thursday (hopefully) with a new blog post. So, do look forward to that!
