UNLIMITED POWAAAAAA!
HELLO! We are back!
In today’s 495th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we’ll discuss one of P-Bandai’s latest Gunpla release announcements. Interestingly, after we complained about the lack of a new HGTWFM kit, P-Bandai dropped a new HGTWFM kit.
So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?
HG 1/144 Gundam Lfrith Anocta (HGTWFM)

Release Date: December 2023
Estimated price: JPY 2,090 (MYR RM 66.20* / USD $ 14.14* / EUR € 13.25*)

We don’t understand how, but somehow, the manga version of the Witch series seems to be getting Gundam designs that look even more badass when compared to the mainline story’s Gundams.
Yes, technically, we are getting another Lfrith variant here. But from what we can see, it seems to us that it shares very little Lfrith DNA here. The Lfrith bits we can recognize here are on the Lfrith Anocta’s face plate, the arms, and some bits of the Lfrith Anocta’s legs.
The rest? From what we can see, it is clear to us that they are new. And to be honest? They looked badass.

Looking at this kit, we can tell that P-Bandai took their time with the design of the Lfrith Anocta because it looks exactly the same as what we see in the manga and the design notes from Ippei Gyoubu.
So, what about this version that we liked about it?
For one, the square-ish chest design reminds us of the EFSF MS designs from the 8th MS team. After seeing a lot of round and chest unit designs from the Witch series, it is nice to see a more square-ish MS design from this series.
Secondly, we all think that the color scheme of the Lfrith Anocta looked fantastic! The blue and white color scheme combo of the Lfrith Anocta translates really well into the Gunpla version! Even the Gund Format color scheme goes really well with the Lfrith Anocta’s color scheme.

But best of all is the fact that there are strong IBO vibes here. Yes, Ippei Gyoubu is the same chap who designed the Lfrith Anocta and was the same designer who helped create most of MS in the IBO series, and it shouldn’t be surprising to see the similarities.
But the funny thing is that he was a part of some of the Mainline Witches MS design. But what makes the Witch series MS designs different is that we can see that the Ippei Gyoubu tried to make a design that is closer to your traditional Gundam MS designs. But for the Lfrith Anocta? The designer decided to go full IBO with Lfrith Anocta’s looks here. Well, on the Lfrith Anocta’s weapons designs, at the very least, haha.
But we like that in Lfrith Anocta’s Gunpla form. They even went as far as to include all the effect gimmicks from the manga version! And that wins a lot of brownie points with us.

Honestly, though? Out of all the HGTWFM Lfrith variants that we’ve seen, this might be the best one yet! So good, in fact, that we are sure that most of you who looked at this kit feel the same way as we do.
Looking at how good this is, we can only hope that we are one of those lucky chaps to secure one for ourselves.
And that concludes our 495th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. Honestly? The news of the HGTWFM Lfrith Anocta isn’t the only P-Bandai news we’ve heard about in the past few days.
However, the other P-Bandai news comes after our discussion on the Lfrith Anocta. But worry not! We’ll be sure to cover the rest of them in the upcoming blog post for sure!
Anyway, we’ll be back next Thursday (hopefully) with a new blog post. So do look forward to it!
