Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.498

Why now, tho?

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 498th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we’ll be taking the time to talk about one of Gundam Base Limited’s latest Gunpla release announcements. Interestingly, we are getting a Gundam Base Limited exclusive MG release from the Gundam 00 series. And it is one that we wondered why it took them this long to release it.

So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?

MG 1/100 The Gundam Base Limited GN-004 Gundam Nadleeh (MG)

Release Date: 7th October 2023
Estimated price: JPY 5,500 (MYR RM 173.09* / USD $ 36.77* / EUR € 35.00*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

It is interesting to see Bandai finally came around to give us the Nadleeh as a stand-alone MG release.

It would be nice if they had done this back when they announced the MG Virtue. But we figured that Bandai probably wanted to bait people into buying another MG Virtue, so it makes sense why we’re seeing them announcing the stand-alone MG Nadleeh now.

But the question is, is this really a release fans of the Nadleeh should be getting? What additions and changes were made to this version to make those who have already bought two of the same kits (so they could display both versions) go out of their way to buy this?

From what we can see here? Nothing much.

Because from what we can see, the only difference that we can see between this and the stand-alone version is the ‘hair’ part. Instead of the dark maroon color scheme the standard retail version gets, the Gundam Base version is in bright red.

Though it does look slightly different, we feel the difference is not enough to entice anyone to go out of their way to pick this up. So we figured the only ones interested in picking this kit up are those who just got the MG Virtue and do not want to spend more money to buy another MG Virtue.

Yes, it does look cool, but we do not think anyone who has owned two MG Virtues would look at this and say, yes, that is the kit for me.

Honestly? We thought they would include clear-colored armor stands for us to recreate the badass MG Virtue armor purge scene. So, at least, it would give everyone a reason to go and get this kit. But it seems like Bandai didn’t seem to think we needed something like that for the MG Virtue, so they didn’t even bother making one.

If they were to make something like that and include it here, we are sure more people would be interested in getting this variant.

And that concludes our 498th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. Honestly, this is not the best Gunpla release announcement from the Gundam Base Limited side. However, we feel that Bandai knows this. So, to ensure that the kit would at least have some eyes on it, Bandai may have decided that this would be a great time to announce the MG Nadleeh for the Gundam Base Limited side.

But again, they could’ve at least made it come with something significant to make people interested in getting it.
