Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.508

Mission Pack Remake

HELLO! We are back! `

In today’s 508th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we’ll be taking the time to talk about P-Bandai’s somewhat recent Gunpla release announcement! And we finally got to talk about something we expected to see announced before the end of the year.

So, without further ado. Let’s get into it, shall we?

MG 1/100 Gundam F90 Mission Pack A Type & L Type (MG)

Release Date: February 2024
Estimated price: JPY 2,750 (MYR RM 85.16* / USD $ 18.15* / EUR € 16.94*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Finally, we get the updated version of the 1991 releases of a 1/100 scale No Grade Gundam Mission packs. More specifically, we are getting the updated version of the A and L Type mission packs.

We know, eventually, we’ll get to these since they have released most of them already. They also have made the necessary releases, which enable us to mount the L Type Mission pack lore-wise accurately.

However, that would be hard to do nowadays unless you are lucky enough to get your hands on the expensive MG F90II (that P-Bandai released with the I-Type mission pack). So, even if you want to, it is currently impossible to mount it lore-wise without breaking the bank.

Also, we find it infuriating that P-Bandai opened the pre-order window for this mission pack without reopening the pre-order window for the MG F90II. Because currently, the only way to get a new MG F90II is through scalpers.

But if you don’t care about being lore-accurate, you could technically mount this on a standard MG F90 since the hard points are the same for both kits.

But enough about what we think and feel about this release. Let’s talk about what we think of it.

We admit that we like how the updated version looked versus its earlier version. We are impressed that P-Bandai really managed to modernize the cartoonish look of the 1991 version for the MG version. And not to mention, we love that it looked like it fits and works well on the MG F90II.

Even the A Type looked quite impressive on its promotional materials here, and we liked that P-Bandai put these two modernized versions of the 1991 mission packs into one release.

Honestly? Looking at these two makes me want to hunt down the old 1991 kit and compare the difference between the old and new.

And that concludes our 508th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. Despite this being the end of our discussion for this week, that doesn’t mean it’s the end of our P-Bandai coverage because there are still two kits to discuss.

By the way, we’ll be back next Saturday since we’ll be taking a day off from posting on Thursday for a short one-day break. So do look forward to it!
