The Metaverse Monster
HELLO! We are back!
In today’s 513th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we’ll discuss one of the Retail side’s latest Gunpla release announcements we admittedly overlooked. But the thing is, the show where the kit is from? The Gundam Build Metaverse? They haven’t had anything that we all find to be remotely interesting.
Not to mention, ever since it came out, we haven’t watched a single episode. But we admit that we may have found a reason to now.
So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?
HG 1/144 Typhoeus Gundam Chimera (HGGBM)

Estimated price: JPY 3,630 (MYR RM 278.77* / USD $ 59.76* / EUR € 55.40*)

Admittedly. This round of the Build series MS designs mostly have been uninteresting. There isn’t one Gunpla we’ve seen from this series that made us want to go out of our way to procure one.
However, now it seems like that will change. Because Bandai finally has something worth getting for us builders. Honestly? It is one of those announcements made quite a while back that we didn’t notice that Bandai slotted in for release in December. We admit that the real reason why this announcement went under the radar for us is due to our lack of interest in the Gundam Build Metaverse series.
But enough about whether we should’ve covered it when Bandai revealed it. Let us now talk about what we think of this release, shall we?

After the release of the Gundam Build TRY Island War’s HG Psycho GM, we thought Bandai had given up designing new big Gunpla releases. And you can imagine how surprised we were when Bandai proved us wrong, that they always had something cooking in the kitchen, and Bandai just needed a new platform to release something as bonkers as this.
A bonkers Gundam Build Metaverse kit that is only possible because of the P-Bandai’s continuous effort on the HG AOZ series.
Why do we say this? Well, because one look at this, it is clear that P-Bandai reused many of the bits we see on the HGGBM Typhous Chimera Gundam from the P-Bandai AOZ kits.
Plus, it was interesting to see how they combined all the best bits of the HG AOZ well on the HGGBM Typhous Chimeria Gundam. You might be wondering which bits from the AOZ we are referring to here. We can see bits from the HGUC Hazel Owsla w/ Gigantic Arm Unint and the HGUC Gundam TR-6 [Haze’n-Thley] used here. The bits were highly modified, of course, and located on the MA part of the kit.

But the rest of this kit? Well, we can say that they’re new, especially the docked MS.
Because we can’t tell where some of them were from, but that really isn’t an issue since the whole thing looks menacingly badass. But that is not all. We like that we can dismount the MA leg unit and become a shield unit for the dismounted MS, or it can act as a funnel carrier when mounted on the MA unit.
Also, we liked that they designed it to look like a dragon’s head, which added to its badassery.
Frankly? We’re looking forward to getting this kit, even though we know it would be expensive. But looking at the amount of Gunpla we’re getting here, we don’t think it would be a waste for a Gunpla builder to get, no matter what they may feel about the anime.

And that concludes our 513th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. We’re glad we got the chance to write about this kit. It deserves to be covered, especially considering how badass it looked.
Plus, it might enable those unfortunate enough who couldn’t get their hands on any of the newer P-Bandai AOZ HGUC kits to have a great base to start customizing one for themselves.
Anyway, we’ll be back next Saturday (hopefully) with a new blog post. So do look forward to it!
