The Final two Brown Southern Cross HGCDI kits
HELLO! We are back!
In today’s 519th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we’ll take the time to discuss two of P-Bandai’s latest Gunpla release announcements! Honestly, the announcements that we see from P-Bandai here aren’t new. They actually made these announcements last week before we went on our NYE holiday, haha.
But what makes these announcements interesting is that they’re announcements of the last two units of the Brown Southern Cross Custom Zaku IIs!
So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?
HG 1/144 MS-06GD Zaku II High-Mobility Type (Ground Use)[Yun Sang-ho Unit](HGCDI)

Release Date: March 2024
Estimated price: JPY 2,750 (MYR RM 88.09* / USD $ 19.14* / EUR € 17.55*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Honestly? We struggled to find any difference between this and all the other variants of the P-Bandai exclusive HGCDI Brown Southern Cross High-Mobility Zaku II.
The reason being? It has the same-ish color scheme and camo designs.
But we’re not implying that we’re not a fan of Yun Sang-ho’s version of the High-Mobility Zaku II. It’s quite the opposite. We love it. But, admittedly, if it’s not for its decals, we wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between this and the others.

But that is not to say that the decal design is the only way to tell the difference between the rest. You can also see the difference in the different weapon systems the Yun Sang-Ho’s version gets compared to the other variants. For the Yun Sang-Ho version, you get a heat saber and the standard Zaku II Machine Gun. Yes, it’s a more conservative weapon set, but still, it is different from the others.
Also, it comes with a weapon mount for the backpack unit. So, you can mount the Zaku II machine gun on the High-Mobility Zaku II’s backpack unit. Admittedly, this isn’t something new since the rest of the other releases also come with this feature, but it is nice to see this gimmick regardless.

And like the rest of the HGCDI Brown Southern Cross Zaku II variants, this is one kit we are looking forward to getting.
HG 1/144 MS-06 GD Zaku II High-Mobility (Ground Type)[Danan Rashica Unit](HGCDI)

Release Date: March 2024
Estimated price: JPY 2,750 (MYR RM 88.09* / USD $ 19.14* / EUR € 17.55*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

The Danan Rashica’s unit of the Zaku II High-Mobiity Type variants is the version we look forward to most seeing its Gunpla form. And Bandai didn’t disappoint in delivering it in Gunpla form.
You might wonder why we look forward to seeing this version more than the other variants, especially considering they’re the same kits.
Easy, it’s because we prefer how the color scheme on this variant looks more than the others. Somehow, the brilliant way the designer of this MS uses the light brown color scheme on this version makes the Danan Rashica’s Zaku II High-Mobility look quite good, and best of all, it translates well on the Gunpla version. Not to mention, the Dark Brown camo decals look good on the lighter surfaces of this kit.

But even with that said, admittedly, it is the same kit as the rest. The only difference between this version and the others is that it gets four heat hawks instead of one, which we’re not surprised about since this is the most melee-focused version compared to the others.
But admittedly, even though we like how this kit looks, it is one of those kits where we find the Danan Rashica’s weapon set boring. We wish the MS designers would take time to design something different, but we get why they didn’t want to do so lore-wise.

Regardless, we still look forward to getting this to complete our HGCDI Brown Southern Cross set, and yes, it also comes with the same backpack weapon mount.
And that concludes our 519th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment.
