The white Witch as an SDCS kit
HELLO! We are back!
In today’s 520th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will continue where we left off with our retail release discussions. But for today’s blog post, we only discuss the last big Retail announcement we purposely omitted in the previous retail blog post discussions because we don’t think people were that interested in it.
But since we’re having another slow Gunpla news week, we decided this would be the perfect time to continue where we left off.
So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?
SDCS X-EX01 Gundam Calibarn (SD Cross-Silhouette)

Release Date: March 2024
Estimated price: JPY 1,980 (MYR RM 63.13* / USD $ 13.60* / EUR € 12.43*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Seeing how well the HGTWFM Gundam Calibarn sold, we’re not surprised to see Bandai release another variant of the Gundam Calibarn so soon.
But seeing it in SDCS form is something we didn’t expect, especially considering how often we get a new SDCS kit. We all honestly thought Bandai would at least consider giving it the MG treatment.
But then again, it could be that it would be faster for them to design an SDCS kit than an MG since Bandai might want to capitalize on the hype and all.

But then again, it might be the kit that would push Bandai to revive the SDCS lineup. Since it looks like they’re banking on the Calibarn’s popularity? But whatever Bandai has in mind, we’re glad to see a new SDCS kit regardless of circumstance.
But enough of that, let us discuss our thoughts on this SDCS kit.
Honestly? We’re impressed by how good the SDCS Calibarn looked. It’s not often that we come across an SD kit that looks this impressive, and it’s not every day we find an SD kit that we are interested in immediately after seeing it for the first time.
But the part we’re most impressed by is that, unlike its other SDCS counterpart, this is the first SDCS kit where everything looks complete, and it had no bits that looked unfinished, unlike the other SDCS kits we’ve seen.
The other thing we liked about this kit is its Shell Unit. The rainbow color hue looked fantastic in SDCS form. But we wouldn’t be surprised if all that awesomeness is sticker-based, which we admit we’re not looking forward to doing.

And since this is an SDCS kit, it would definitely ship with a decent articulation! Honestly? From what we can see here, the articulation of the SDCS Calibarn is so good, in fact, that you can even recreate almost all the same poses you get on the HGTWFM version.
And all of that makes us look forward to this SDCS kit.

And that concludes our 520th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. It’s not the most fascinating retail release from the retail side, but we’re excited about it regardless.
We’ll be back next Saturday (hopefully) with a new blog post. So do look forward to it!
