Let’s talk Gunpla Vol.521

Finally, the cheapest way to get an HGCE perfect strike

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 521st edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla post, we’ll discuss another two retail release announcements that we find interesting. But unlike the previous three main releases, the ones we cover today are expansions for an EG kit.

So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?

1/144 Option Parts Gunpla 01 (Alie Striker)

Release Date: May 2024
Estimated price: JPY 1,210 (MYR RM 38.80* / USD $ 8.35* / EUR € 7.62*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

So long after the EG Strike’s release, we are surprised that Bandai took this long to release an expansion part set for the EG Strike. But seeing how good the parts looked, we think it is worth the wait.

Why? That is because Bandai didn’t just drop one Option part for the EG Strike, but they dropped two Option parts for the EG Strike, and it is enough to help builders recreate the Perfect Strike when you combine these two for the EG Strike.

But first, let’s talk about what we think of the first Option Parts set, shall we? The set where we are getting the Alie Striker pack and more weapons for the EG Strike.

Honestly? The Alie Striker backpack that we got here looks good. It might not be as good-looking as the one you get on the HGCE version. However, if you’re considering using this to update your EG Strike? It is a decent enough upgrade for the EG Strike. It even comes with a detachable extra battery pack for the Alie Striker.

We also liked that Bandai included the Strike Gundam’s Bazooka, Grand Slam Sword, and a new 90mm Anti-Aircraft Shotgun in this expansion set, which is a fantastic addition because we know that we can use these on the HGCE Strike.

Oh, Bandai also included two different connection parts. So, you can mount the Aile Striker Backpack on other HG or EG kits in your collection.

We don’t know why you want to use this backpack on the HGCE Strike since it doesn’t look as good as the one you’re getting here, but then again, it could be a cheap replacement if you just so happen to lose or break the original backpack unit.

1/144 Option Part 2 (Launcher Striker & Sword Striker)

Release Date: June 2024
Estimated price: JPY 1,210 (MYR RM 38.80* / USD $ 8.35* / EUR € 7.62*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

If Option Parts 1 is the expansion set to get if you’re considering updating your EG Strike, Option Parts 2 meanwhile is the expansion set to have if you’re considering updating both the EG Strike and the HGCE Strike.

Why?

Well, it’s because you get both the Launcher Strike and Sword Strike expansion, and it is definitely the cheapest way to turn your HGCE Strike into the Perfect Strike without breaking the bank.

For something Bandai created for the EG kit, it is impressive to see how well-designed the parts looked, not to mention. How well articulated the parts were, too.

And since Bandai designed this for the EG Strike, you can bet that Bandai will ensure the parts are color-separated correctly! The best part? Unlike the Alie Striker, we know these will look great on the HGCE Strike.

But then again, we might be talking out of our asses here because there is a possibility that these might not look as good in real life as their CG renditions here. But at the same time, Bandai have been having such a good track record with the EG lineup that we are confident that Bandai will put the same effort into the EG Strike’s expansion parts.

In conclusion, we are excited to try the expansion parts and see if they look as good as they did in the promotional materials.

And that concludes our 521st edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. These are fascinating expansion sets Bandai made for the EG Strike here. We do hope that we get more expansions like this made for the EG kits in the near future.
