The First Bandai newbie-friendly event?

HELLO! We are back! 

In today’s 524th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla post, we will be taking the time to discuss one of the first Gunpla/Plamo-related events of Q1 2024. Yes, it is one of those slow Gunpla news weeks. Even with that said, we expected it since it is the start of the year. But honestly? We do genuinely find this event interesting.

So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we? 

Upcoming event Discussion: Hyper Plamo Fes 2024

Out of all the Gunpla/Plamo-related events we’ve covered, we have yet to come across one specifically designed to cater to beginners or newbies. Gunpla/Plamo events have always centered around the Hardcore and Avid fans of the Gundam/ any anime series. Yes, we admit that there is some effort by the organizers to cater to new/beginner builders. But yet, we feel it wasn’t enough to make people interested in the hobby. 

So, this is obviously a good move by Bandai to create a whole event to make the hobby more accessible to the general public. From what we can gather from reading the bits and pieces of information we get on the website (listed here), it sounds like a comic con for Gunpla Builders. What’s more. We think it is a good platform for Bandai to announce retail kits they plan to sell to the general public. 

But even with that said, we probably imagine Bandai would announce more Entry-Grade kits and maybe beginner-friendly HG kits at this event. Nothing complicated like a PG, RG, or MG line in this event. Even though nothing is confirmed yet, we suspect that is what we’ll get when they announce more details sometime in March.

But we’re looking at most to see what goes down in this event and what Bandai has in store for the visitors. 

Honestly, we’re really looking forward to this upcoming event. 

And that concludes our 524th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. As we expected at the start of the year, we didn’t really get any new Gunpla release news from the Retail and the P-Bandai side. But it is interesting to see Bandai trying something new here, and it would be interesting to see what they have in store for this event. 

Oh, Btw, we will be taking a short leave this weekend, and we will be back next Thursday (hopefully) with a new blog post. So do look forward to it!
