Orange is the new Black.
HELLO! We are back!
In today’s 530th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we’ll continue our discussion of P-Bandai’s recent Gunpla release announcements. Interestingly, we’re getting another 1/100 scaled Gunpla from the SEED series in orange!
It makes us wonder if we’re close to eventually getting a reprint of the MG Heine Westenfluss’s Orange Destiny Gundam.
So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?

Seeing how popular this version of the Calamity is with the SEED MSV fans, we’re honestly not surprised to see this announcement. Even though it is a long wait for the fans of the SEED MSV series to get this version, at the end of the day, after seeing the promotional materials of this kit, we think it was a worthwhile wait.
Because, man, we get why people like this version of the Calamity.
It looks a lot better than the standard version! What’s more, you’re getting a lot of new bits here, too! For instance, this version comes with new shoulder armor, a new mounted (and detachable) small shield unit on both arms, a new backpack unit, a new leg storage compartment (for two Armor Schneider combat knives), and a lot of badass melee weapons (you get two anti-ship swords and two beam boomerangs).

But the best part about all of these new bits is that aesthetically, this whole new look works well with the FM Calamity base, which we find surprising.
Why?
Because it is uncommon for a range-based MS to be converted easily into a melee-based MS just by swapping parts and expecting them to go well together, design-wise. We have seen through the years some kits don’t work (design-wise) after being converted into something else. So we admit that we’re surprised that all of this works for the FM Calamity Gundam, which is impressive.

The other thing we liked about this P-Bandai version of the FM Calamity is that it comes with one badass beam effect part that we never thought we would like! Which beam effect part that we’re talking about here?

Yes, the dual melting beam effect part P-Bandai used in their promotional materials when posing the FM Sword Calamity for its combined two anti-ship swords. The beam effects looked fantastic, and not to mention, it makes the FM Sword Calamity two-sword combo pose look cool as heck.
The FM Sword Calamity is, without a doubt, our favorite P-Bandai kit that we’ve seen this year, and we reckon this is the P-Bandai kit that most SEED MSV fans are most looking forward to getting this year.

And that concludes our 530th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. What a badass P-Bandai kit! With the release of the SEED FREEDOM movie, it is nice that the SEED MS design gets the treatment it deserves. We hope Bandai (and P-Bandai) doesn’t just focus on the Gundams. We would love to see more SEED Grunt units getting the Gunpla treatment.
Anyway, we’ll be back next Saturday (hopefully) with a new blog post. So do look forward to it!
