The storm of purple vengeance
HELLO! We are back!
In today’s 547th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we’ll look at P-Bandai’s recent Gunpla release announcement. Interestingly, the kit they announced this round is an HGCE kit they revealed at the recent Shizuoka Hobby Show 2024 event.
It was one of the HGCE reveals we were supposed to cover in last week’s segment, but unfortunately, Kimi was down with the nasty flu for the whole week, so we didn’t manage to cover that reveal.
But in a way, we’re glad we didn’t because Bandai finally released a much more detailed look at this particular P-Bandai release not long after Bandai revealed the kit.
So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?
HG 1/144 ZGMF-2027/A GYAN Storm (Hilda Harken/Standard Ver.)(HGCE)

Release Date: August 2024
Estimated price: JPY 3,190 (MYR 95.31* / USD 20.35* / EUR 18.80*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Anyone who has watched the SEED FREEDOM movie wouldn’t be surprised to see this kit’s reveal at the Shizuoka Hobby Show. We are also not that surprised to see P-Bandai be the one to announce Hilda’s (or the Standard) version of the GYAN Storm. Admittedly, we expected it.
Why, you may ask?
The reason is that even when it debuted in the movie, it didn’t play a significant role, and what’s more, it looked too similar to Agnes’s version.
Well, that is what we thought at first. However, after a closer inspection, we found that this version does have some differences that set it apart from Agnes’s version.

We would first admit that most of what you get here are bits Bandai recycled from the Agenes’s version, but the backpack? That is somewhat new.
Why do we say ‘somewhat new’? Well, it still has bits that it inherits from Agnes’s version, like the missile pods and the main backpack it connects to. Although, at a glance, you will not be able to notice the difference at first.
But the more you look at it, the more you will notice that the backpack for the Hilda (or Standard) version looks more conventional than the ones on Agnes’s version.

What do we mean by this? If you compare the looks of the two, you will notice that Agnes’s version looks more like it is inspired by Destiny’s backpack unit. In contrast, Hilda’s (or Standard) version looks more like the simplified version of Infinite Justice’s backpack unit.
The best part? We know that Hilda’s (or Standard) version backpack can be interchangeable with Agnes’s. However, we must do some painting magic to make it look in line with the kit we’re pairing it with, though we admit it might not be such a tall order.

Despite being more or less the same kit, it is a worthwhile investment. Not because we’re huge fans of this series but because it comes with enough updates to make it worth spending money on.
That is, as long you get it without paying the ‘Scalper tax”.

That concludes our 547th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. It’s nice to be back writing after being away for too long, and we apologize to all of you for the lack of updates on our end.
Things were too hectic on our end, and by the time we knew it, it was already Saturday night.
But alas, we hope that Kimi’s current health situation stays as is.
Anyways.
