Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.565

Finally, a proper full release!

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 565th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we’ll discuss one of Gundam Base Limited’s latest Gunpla release announcements! Interestingly, we are getting something fascinating from the War in a Pocket series, one that many of us didn’t expect Bandai to turn into Gunpla.

Also, it is a release that none of us expect to see coming from the Gundam Base Limited’s side.

So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?

HG Gundam Base Limited RH-35E Riah 35 Draken E (HG)

In an unexpected move, Bandai dropped a release announcement for the Gundam Base Limited side that we never knew we wanted.

Yes, even though this isn’t the first time we’ve received the Draken E in Gunpla form (Bandai included it alongside the HGUC GM Sniper II), this might be the first time we’ve received it in a proper, workable/poseable iteration.

Yes, you heard us right. We are getting a working and poseable Draken E instead of a minuscule, barely poseable placeholder that requires a lot of paintwork, as we got with the HGUC GM Sniper II’s version. Not to mention the one we got here, Bandai went hard with the details, which we didn’t expect to see in an HG kit.

So, why are we so impressed by this kit?

Well, let us talk about what we are getting here first.

Firstly, despite this being an HG kit, we aren’t getting the Draken E in the 1/144 scale. Looking at its size, we assume that this is made on a 1/60 scale instead, so this might be an excellent kit to pose alongside your PG kits.

It even comes with poseable arm units, which is nice since we finally get to experience (or play around with) the Draken E’s arm mechanisms. Heck, it even comes with two arm unit configurations: the standard arm unit with clamp unit and the ‘Aliens power loader-inspired’ arm unit.

And yes, because it comes with two arm unit configurations, you can recreate the two versions of the Draken E with it. However, if you’re planning on recreating the Zeon version, you do need to paint the whole kit.

But the best part about this kit is its awe-inspiring cockpit design! All the details in the cockpit area that we can see from Bandai’s promotional materials look exquisitely fantastic here! Looking at how good some of the details on some parts looked, we believe that Bandai made detailing freaks like us happy looking at it! Honestly? We find it hard to believe we’re looking at a HG kit here.

We admit that after spending time looking at how good this looked, we were excited about the idea of getting it for ourselves! The HG Draken E is, without a doubt, the best thing we’ve seen from the Gundam Base side in a long time.

Heck, it might even be the best thing we’ve seen this year, too.

This concludes the 565th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. After spending weeks looking at P-Bandai and retail announcements, it is also nice to finally talk about releases from the Gundam Base Limited Side.

Although, we didn’t expect the Gundam Base Limited side to release something this hardcore.

At first, we wanted to write about our thoughts on Gundam Base Limited’s already released re-released version of the EXPO Exclusive MG Heine’s Destiny and the clear-colored version of the HGTWFM Calibarn. But after seeing this, well, we know that we needed to cover this before moving on to those two kits.

Admittedly, we think we might not cover those two since they’re already out in the wild.

Anyhow.

We’ll return in the upcoming segment next Thursday (hopefully) with a new blog post! So do look forward to that!
