Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.580

Beautiful Red and Blue kits

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 580th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we’ll discuss some of the latest Gunpla release announcements from the recent Gunpla reveals from the 62nd All Japan Hobby Show 2024.

As always, we will not discuss ALL of them in one post, but we will discuss the three kits we are most excited about getting next year.

So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?

RG 1/144 GF13-017NJ Shining Gundam (RG)[RETAIL]

Release Date: TBC
Estimated price: TBC
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Seeing how well the reception for the RG God and the other P-Bandai HGFC kits has been, we’re not that surprised to see Bandai follow up with another MS design from the G Gundam anime series. Honestly, we were not surprised to see that the upcoming kit is the RG Shining Gundam.

We’re sure that most weren’t surprised to see this kit announced.

But enough about whether we were surprised. Let’s now discuss what we think of this kit.

Frankly, there is little to discuss since Bandai has shared very little information about this release. Still, from what we can gather from the pictures of the sample kit showcased at the All Japan Hobby Show, we feel that it may share the same articulation system as the RG God Gundam.

We also agree with some Gunpla commentators that the RG Shining’s chest unit looked too simple compared to the rest of the kit. It looked like a slightly updated HGFC chest unit design.

But even with that said, we aren’t there to see it up close to really confirm all of this, so it is hard to tell if that is the case for now. Since this is still in the early stages, Bandai might still be working on tweaking its looks closer to its release. So, the RG Shining might look more detailed in the coming months? Who knows?

But even if they’re going with that simple look, we admit that, if we are honest, we aren’t bothered by it. At the end of the day, we are more interested in knowing if the RG Shining Gundam will be as fun to build as the RG God or if it will be a disappointment. As builders, we are more interested in knowing that we’re getting a good kit than a good-looking kit.

All in all, we are looking forward to learning more about this kit in the coming months.

RG 1/144 ZGMF-56E2/β Sword Impulse Gundam SpecII (RG)[P-Bandai]

Release Date: TBC
Estimated price: TBC
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Admittedly, we were most excited about this release.

Seeing how awesome all the Impulse Spec II Variants looked in the SEED FREEDOM movie, we know that we have wanted the RG Version of the Sword Impulse Spec II so badly ever since we saw the anime version of Sword Impulse Spec II.

Imagine our delight when we saw this revealed at the All Japan Hobby Show, and once again, imagine our even greater delight when we saw how badass the RG Sword Impulse Gundam Spec II looked.

Considering how good the sample looked, we are unsurprised that most have already put this kit on their to-buy wish list.

Even though we are not surprised by how badass it looked, we are surprised to see Bandai took this long to reveal the RG Sword Impulse Gundam Spec II. Honestly, it’s not like P-Bandai would have difficulty redesigning this since they can always reuse the RG Sword Impulse as the base for the Spec II version.

All they need to do is recolor the darn things.

But admittedly, despite taking a long time to reveal this, we admit Bandai did an excellent job with the red color scheme used on the RG Sword Impulse Spec II. The red used here looked elegant on the kit, and we’re surprised that this color scheme doesn’t make it look like some cheap night market bootleg Gundam.

But we still can’t understand why revealing this kit took them so long. Is there a reason why it took them this long to reveal this kit? Did they decide to add more extra bits to the RG Impulse Gundam that they’re still keeping behind lock and key?

Honestly, who knows? But if there is one thing that we do know, it is that we look forward to learning more about this release in the coming weeks or months.

HG 1/144 MSN-06S Shinanju Ver.GSF (HGUC)[Retail or Gundam Base Limited]

Release Date: TBC
Estimated price: TBC
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Out of all the kits we’ve seen from the All Japan Event, we never expected to see another HGUC Shinanju variant so soon. But unlike the other versions we got, this is one that we admit we are quite interested in getting.

Why?

One word: blue.

Yes, we are a sucker for blue-colored MS designs.

But we are not the only ones who would love to get this version of the HGUC Shinanju. We are sure many who have seen it would love to own one, too.

How do we know this, you ask? Despite being just a recolored HGUC Shinanju, it has one of the best color schemes we’ve seen on an HGUC Shinanju to date.

We would even go as far as saying that it looked better than the standard or even the Stein version.

However, we are not sure yet whether the Retail or Gundam Base Limited sides will release this. Since it is a custom Shinanju created for the Gundam Scramble event, we may most likely see it getting that Gundam Base Limited release. We wouldn’t be surprised if this ends up being a Gundam SIDE-F (well, technically, this is still considered a Gundam Base Limited release) exclusive release.

Regardless of which side releases this, we are looking forward to seeing more of it in the coming months. Hopefully, we don’t have to wait long for this one.

This concludes the 580th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. Admittedly, we struggled to choose the three kits to discuss when we worked on this post since Bandai revealed many awesome kits at this event.

However, we are disappointed that Bandai hasn’t announced more MG kits for the retail side this time around. But even with that said, seeing more of the upcoming MG Vidar at this event is nice.

Anyhow.
