Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.584

Looks like something that George Miller would dream about

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 584th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we’ll continue where we left off with our previous discussion on the recent P-Bandai announcements to talk about the other HGRFV kit that P-Bandai announced alongside the HGRFV LeShawn’s Zaku II F-Type Standard and Rebuild versions.

So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?

HG 1/144 MS-06F Zaku II F Type Chubbs & Kale Custom & MS-06F Zaku II F Type Solari Custom (Rebuild) (HGRFV)

Release Date: February, 2025
Estimated price: JPY 6,050 (MYR 170.54* / USD 39.17* / EUR 36.51*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

We find this release announcement quite interesting because when P-Bandai first revealed this set to us, we assumed it would come with three kits. However, considering how much this set costs (roughly the same as LeShawn’s version), we wouldn’t be surprised if P-Bandai only includes enough parts to build two complete kits.

Apparently, we learned from reading the marketing materials that it only comes with enough parts for you to recreate the Chubbs and Kale’s Custom Zaku II F Type.

What for Solari’s Rebuild Zaku II F Type? From what we can gather from the marketing materials, it only comes with parts for you to use on the retail version to recreate the rebuilt version of the Solari’s Zaku II F Type.

Honestly? that is pretty smart of them to do it this way; yes, it sucks that the Solari Rebuild version didn’t get a full release, but seeing the amount of work that you probably need to paint these parts up, well, honestly? It’s not that bad.

So, what is new that you get here in this set?

Well, if we are honest?

Not much. The Chubbs and Kale version is a recolored version of the HGRFV Solari’s Zaku II, which comes with the redesigned Anti-Ship Rifle. If you have worked on the recently released HGRFV Solari’s Zaku II F Type, you will find the building experience to be more and less the same.

But if you’re a fan of the Red Wolves Squad, you might not mind that since the only thing that matters is that you finally complete the set.

The only downside we learned from the marketing materials is that we may have to paint some bits on these two kits, like some parts of Chubb’s Zaku II’s head unit and some sections of the two kits’ arm units.

But even with that said, we admit that if you pull it off well, you will have two (or three if you want to take on the challenge of painting the Rebuild Solari’s Zaku II parts) of the best-looking Zaku II variants.

Sadly, the only thing holding us back from preordering this kit is that P-Bandai already opened the PO window for these sets last week. The only thing we can do now is wait for them to relist it so we can finally get it for ourselves.

This concludes the 584th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. It is nice to take things easy for the time being before the storm of new kit announcements that we’ll be getting next week.

But even with that said, we are not that excited because we may see a lot of new HGs or RGs release announcements and not a lot of new MG or PG release announcements. We love getting new kits, but it would be nice if they were to announce something for the MG line-up, too.

That is unless they really have something exciting in the pipeline that no one knows about, but at this rate, we are not holding our breath for it.

But what do you guys think? And what are your predictions for the upcoming New Hobby Info Mini event?
