Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.586

The Blue Comet?

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 586th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla post, we’ll discuss one of Gundam Base’s latest Gunpla release announcements. It’s a Gunpla release announcement that confirms our earlier prediction that we would see it get a release announcement for The Gundam Base Limited side.

So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?

Finally, a nice blue Sinanju

When they first revealed this kit, we knew it would not be released as a retail release, no matter how much we wanted it. But we still hoped that Bandai would eventually give in and let the masses have it.

However, today’s announcement of this kit for the Gundam Base Limited side dashed our hopes of seeing it get a retail release. What makes it worse for us all is that this is seeing a limited-run release for the Gundam Base Fukuoka side for their 5th-anniversary celebration. So yeah, we can imagine this to be one extremely hard-to-get kit.

But what about this kit that made us interested (and excited) in getting it?

Well, the reason is, actually, the only reason we wanted to get this is because it comes in blue. Yeah, we are a sucker for kits in blue, especially one that looked this good. It also comes with two badass beam rifles, which is another reason we are so interested in getting this.

But despite our excitement and interest in getting this, it is still just a recolored version (that comes with an extra beam rifle) of the bog standard HGUC Sinanju.

It might be a recolored bog standard Sinanju, but by god it is one of the best looking recolors that we’ve seen to date

So, yeah, it will come with the infamously terrible gold stickers. Honestly, we still don’t understand why they didn’t just improve the quality of life by giving this version a new separate gold part for the gold bits.

But then again, maybe they want to make a quick buck on this and not bother by redesigning the base kit that they feel is good enough to sell as is.

It sucks, but that is not stopping us from getting this since we can always opt to paint the gold bits.

The only downside to this release is that it comes with an ugly gold-colored propellant tank. We also find it funny that Bandai decides to give this a huge gold-colored propellant tank but does not bother to spend more money, effort, and time providing the rest of the kit with separate gold-colored parts.

why couldn’t they just stick with white for these bits?

But again, (trying not to be a parrot here), we understand why they do this: they’re lazy and want to make a quick buck.

But still (trying not to be a parrot here, again), we are going to get this because, as we said earlier, we are a sucker for blue-colored kits. And that is enough reason for us to try getting this blue-colored HGUC Sinanju.

Hopefully they would make an MG version of this badass Sinanju

This concludes the 586th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. It’s nice knowing we’ll get the HGUC Blue Sinanju soon. It is frustrating that this is an event-exclusive kit, but regardless, it is nice to know that if we ever head to Japan, there is a slight possibility that we can secure one at MSRP price.

If they still have them in stock, that is.

Anyway.

We’ll return to the upcoming segment this Saturday (hopefully) with a new blog post! So do look forward to that!
