Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.595

We would rather have a clear-colored RG version than this.

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 595th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we’ll discuss one of The Gundam Base Limited’s side’s latest Gunpla release announcements. Unfortunately, the kit we will discuss is not a release announcement of a new or original kit; it is, once again, an announcement of another variation of a kit that has been released.

But we figured it would be something that fans of the Wing Gundam would be interested in.

So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?

HG 1/144 The Gundam Base Limited XXXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero [Clear Color](HGAC)

HG 1/144 The Gundam Base Limited XXXG-00W0 Gundam Wing Zero [Clear-Color] (HGAC)
Release Date: 25th January 2025
Estimated price: JPY 1,760 (MYR 50.47* / USD 11.21* / EUR 10.88*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation
We’re sure that fans of this kit would really interested in getting this.

With the popularity of the Wing Gundam series, it is no surprise to anyone that Bandai announced the Clear Color version of the HGAC Wing Zero. And yes, since it is a recolored version (in this case, a clear-colored version] of the HGAC Wing Zero, we’re not expecting Bandai to add anything new here.

However, we decided to talk about it (besides not having much to talk about) because it doesn’t look as good as the RG Sazabi Mechanical clear we’ve seen recently.

Why didn’t they just released a coated version instead?

Yes, admittedly, it is silly to compare two different lines, but honestly? The ‘clear-color’ bit doesn’t make sense on HG kits since there isn’t anything to show under their hoods. It makes more sense for MG and RGs since they DO have things to show under their hoods. That is why we prefer Bandai to continue releasing a coated version for the HG kits instead of Clear-Colored HG kits.

That is why we are not that interested in getting this. But some of you might be thinking, why are we being harsh on this?

Honestly? its not hard to see why

When we heard about this announcement, we really didn’t want to, heck, we even tried to give it a chance. But after looking at the Clear-Color HGAC Wing Zero’s promotional materials, we still didn’t find it…appealing.

Although we believe that some hardcore fans of the HGAC Wing Zero will still be getting this regardless of how it looks, most will still struggle to justify getting this kit.

Thankfully, we don’t have to do that because we aren’t getting this. We would rather save our money on a special coating version instead of this.

This concludes the 595th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. Yes, we admit it is a very slow start to the new year. We have not seen or heard any plans from Bandai for their upcoming Gunpla/plamo lineup.

Honestly? We are concerned about this. Usually, we would already see Bandai teasing new upcoming kits or news of forthcoming release announcements, but there isn’t much to talk about or discuss.

We are sure they have something in store, but we can’t help but worry, seeing that neither side (P-Bandai and the Retail side) is announcing anything new related to Gunpla.

But at least we can take it easy this month.

Anyways

We’ll return to the upcoming segment this Saturday(hopefully). However, if nothing new is announced in a couple of days af this blog post is out, we might not post anything this Saturday. Instead, we will post a WIP picture of a sample of a Chinese Mecha model kit that Kimi is working on on his Instagram page. But we shall see how it goes. But for now, hopefully, we’ll be able to see you guys again soon! 😀

It would be a tremendous help to us all here in the blog if you guys were to leave a like on our posts and subscribe to the blog if you enjoy our gunpla/plamo-related posts. We would appreciate it if you guys showed your support by leaving an upvote on our R/Gunpla posts and a like on our Facebook and Instagram posts or pages!

We are also open to good and bad feedback, so feel free to write away.

Hopefully, by sharing our love and passion for building and writing about gunplas or other plamos here, this post will inspire all of you to pick up the hobby—or, better yet, reignite your love and passion for the hobby.

We shall see all of you again soon, and we hope all of you here have a splendid day and week ahead! Oh, before we go, please have an excellent time building your awesome gunplas there and until next time.

Ciao!

  1. Hi kimi,

I found your blog on the internet while searching for Gundam model kits, tutorials and general advice.
I am fairly new to the Gundam topic (but not to building kits in general).
However, I am a bit overwhelmed by what kits are available and what features they offer.

I hope you (or the community, hi everyone!) can help me with what I am looking for:

    • A Gundam (no antagonist)
    • Working pistons (one of my most wished features, not on all ankles of course, but some) and cool mechanics in general
    • Real Grade or Master Grade
    • Good pose-ability
    • Fun to build
    • Option for LED integration (or I do it later on a custom basis)

From my current research, I found these:
https://www.super-hobby.de/products/GUNDAM-MK-II-A.E.U.G.-Gundam-61598.html (pistons on the lower legs)
    https://www.1001hobbies.de/gundam/477425-bandai-banmk55454-gundam-gunpla-mg-1-100-rx-93-v-gundam-ver-ka-4573102554543.html (pistons at the knee)
    https://www.1001hobbies.de/gundam/390611-bandai-gun58222-gundam-iron-blooded-orphans-gunpla-mg-1-100-gundam-bar-4573102582225.html (many pistons)

Of course there is also the Perfect Grad Unleashed RX 78-2, but it might be a bit too big and expensive for the first try.

Is there any additional kit that comes to your mind?

    Any advice is highly appreciated.
Thank you very much in advance, have a good day,

    Daniel
