Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.596

Finally, we get something clear-colored that looks nice.

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 596th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will discuss The Gundam Base Limited’s latest Gunpla release announcements. Interestingly, the Gundam Base Limited side announced two event-exclusive Clear-Colored kits, one MG and one HGUC kit.

However, since Bandai has been relatively quiet recently, we decided to split the discussion into two parts (so we can post something this Saturday). So, the first one we will write about today is the clear-colored HG kit.

So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?

Honestly? we didn’t expect to like this kit

Despite our feelings about clear-colored kits, we admit that sometimes, every now and then, there is a colored HG kit that looks good—one that made us reconsider our stance on a clear-colored kit.

But every time we give in and buy one for ourselves, we always regret the decision afterward. As some of you know (and experience firsthand), clear-colored parts are a bit more fragile than standard parts, and you can’t treat them like normal parts.

Why do we start by saying this, you ask?

Well, to be honest, we think that this kit looks all right, and we can imagine people being interested in getting it. Unlike the others we’ve seen, the clear-colored HGUC Messer looks acceptable, at least. Don’t get us wrong; we still believe that clear-colored HG kits look terrible and pointless (and not to mention fragile, too). But from what we can see, at the very least, it looks nice.

Honestly, this is one Clear Color kit that is hard not to like

So what did Bandai do here that makes this look better than the HGUC Wing Zero?

Well, to be honest, they didn’t do anything to improve the looks. But somehow, the colors that they used on the HGUC Messer’s clear-colored parts make it look good. Even though it was the Messer’s original color scheme translated into the clear-color version, somehow, it works better on the HGUC Messer than most clear-colored kits that we’ve seen.

We can imagine fans of the HGUC Messer looking forward to this, and it’s good for them because they’re getting something decent here, unlike the HGAC Wing Zero fans, who are getting a plastic mess.

But even with that said, we still can’t see ourselves getting this because we are not really big fans of clear-colored kits. But it is one of those kits. If we ever find one selling cheaply, we might not mind getting one.

So we shall wait until someone out there be selling this one for cheap

This concludes the 596th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. It’s been another quiet week for big Gunpla releases, which we admit is frustrating. But at least we are still getting new announcements, though not from the sources that we expect to make some interesting (and exciting) announcements.

Anyways

We’ll return to the upcoming segment next Saturday (to continue where we left off) with a new blog post! So do look forward to that!
