HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 601st edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we’ll discuss the HUGE retail Gunpla news that Bandai just dropped at their recent Hobby New Item event. This time, we are getting spoiled with new kit announcements; heck, we are even finally getting an MG Aerial. Though not the kind of MG kit that we are expecting to get

But an MG is an MG.

Since the retail announcements this time are pretty massive and we don’t have much time to spare this week, we will only discuss the two kits we are looking forward to the most in this blog post, and we shall cover the rest in the upcoming posts.

But before we explain why we only talk about two kits this week, let us first get into the discussion, shall we?

So, without further ado. Let’s get into it, shall we?

HG 1/144 gMS-a Red Gundam (HGGQuuuuuuX)

Release Date: May 2025

Estimated price: JPY 2,750 (MYR 80.52* / USD 18.11* / EUR 17.37*)

As expected, we finally get more details on this upcoming kit, and the new reveals that Bandai dropped for this kit managed to excite us for this upcoming release.

There is a good reason why we are excited about this upcoming kit, and that is because we have already seen and heard many good things about the recently released HG GQuuuuuX and because of all the positive press, we have an excellent feeling that this would be another banger from Bandai.

But enough about that, let us talk about what new things we have learned about this kit. Well, for new stuff, well, not much on that department since we have already seen all that we’re getting from the recently released teaser.

However, we learn from this release announcement that the articulation of the upcoming HGGQuuuuuuX Red Gundam will be fantastic. Though admittedly, we are not surprised, considering the HG GQuuuuuX also has impressive articulation. The way you can push the limits of the articulation of its limbs is jaw-dropping. And the fact that all of that is possible without using PC polycaps is impressive.

But then again, compared to other kits, the HGGQuuuuuuX Red Gundam doesn’t have to deal with cumbersome shoulder armor and waist armor pieces getting in the way of articulation. That may explain why we see the limbs having more freedom to articulate.

But that is why we like the designs of the HGGQuuuuuX series: it’s not that they omitted the iconic shoulder armor and waist armor; they just decided to embed and streamline the designs so the limbs have more freedom of movement. So, despite its radical looks, it still looked familiar to fans of the series.

The other thing that we like about the HGGQuuuuuuX Red Gundam is that it comes with many hard points. Unlike the other Gundam designs (and redesigns), they only limit the hard points on the Gundam with only four hard points: the backpack (to hold the shield unit), both arm units (to hold the shield unit), and behind-the-waist armor. For the HGGQuuuuuuX, however, it looks like we will be getting 6 or 8 hard points.

We are still unsure of what these hard points will be used for, but one thing is for sure: we can do a lot of crazy custom suit designs with all of these hard points.  

Yes, this is still pure speculation, considering that we haven’t had the actual kit on our hands, but we have a good feeling that this will surely be a good one.

HG 1/144 RGM-79 Light-Type Guncannon (HGGQuuuuuuX)

Release Date: July 2025

Estimated price: JPY 2,200 (MYR 64.59* / USD 14.49* / EUR 13.89*)

Yes, the HG Red Gundam isn’t the only HGGQuuuuuX kit announced yesterday. Bandai dropped two new HGGQuuuuuuX kits the same day we got new details on the upcoming HGGQuuuuuuX Red Gundam. After seeing how well the movie performed may have encouraged Bandai to move ahead with releasing/announcing more GQuuuuuuX Gunplas.

Though we were expecting Bandai to announce more HGGQuuuuuuX kits, we didn’t expect them to announce all of them this quickly. But even with that said, seeing that they are starting to release the movie internationally, this move by Bandai shouldn’t surprise us.

But by doing this, they spoiled the movie for those outside of the already opened floodgates of spoilers.

Anyways, speaking of spoilers. Since we are getting a redesigned Gundam, we will also get a new redesigned Guncannon.

And goddamn, it looks badass. It looked so good that we would even go as far as to say that this looked even better than the HGGQuuuuuuX Red Gundam.

So besides its war-winning looks, what are we getting here?

The articulation seems to share the same system as what we get with the HGGQuuuuuX Red Gundam, so we are getting a kit with god-tier articulation.

In terms of equipment?

You are getting two sets of manipulator units, which we reckon by looking at it, that we might have applied some painting magic to make it look as good as what we are seeing here, one badass beam saber and we also are getting a good-looking beam rifle.

Also, it is interesting that the HGGQuuuuuX version of the Guncannon comes with only one backpack attached Beam cannon. Although, admittedly, it does look like they took inspiration from the Origins series when designing this backpack unit. However, we wonder if they have plans to have this come with the version with two beam cannon units especially considering the name for this version to be the ‘Light-Type’ version. Does that mean the Heavy version comes with two beam cannon unit?

Regardless of its circumstances, the HGGQuuuuuuX Light-Guncannon still looks cool.

But the other thing we noticed about this kit is that it also comes with the same hard points we see on the HGGQuuuuuuX Red Gundam. Does that mean we can mount the HGGQuuuuuuX Red Gundam’s shield and funnel unit on this?

The more time we spend looking at this kit, the more interested we are in getting this. We hope it won’t disappoint us as soon as we get it.

This concludes the 601st edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. Initially, we planned to do the usual: talk about the three kits we are most looking forward to. But a combination of Kimi being unwell and also Kimi having to prepare for an upcoming family member’s life event, we don’t have a lot of time to spare to discuss all the new releases for today’s post.
