More loveable Retail HG kits to talk about
HELLO! We are back!
In today’s 603rd edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we’ll continue where we left off with the retail discussions and cover another two kits from the retail announcements that we look forward to getting the most. We shall finish covering the other two retail releases this coming weekend as long as our health holds.
Speaking about our health, we want to apologize for the lack of updates these past couple of days; we have been down with nasty flu, fever, and cough and have been trying to get things back up and running ever since.
But we have been failing at that miserably, so we apologize for that.
Anyways.
So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?
HG 1/144 MS-06 Military Police Zaku (HGGQX)

Estimated price: JPY 2,200 (MYR 65.20* / USD 14.61* / EUR 14.07*)

Yes, we’ll start today’s segment with a Zaku, more precisely, the Zaku from the upcoming GQuuuuuuX anime.
Yes, the cat is out of the bag, boys. The upcoming show will have Zakus innit.
Anyways.
Even before we watched the movie recently, we were already big fans of the GQuuuuuuX’s Zaku design, especially the Military Police’s version of the Zaku. We know that not everyone likes this redesign, but we’re one of those who like how the new Zaku looks. It’s refreshing. Also, when we saw this, we all agreed that the chaps in Khara Studios are really cooking with these new MS designs.
But that is what we think of its anime design; how about its Gunpla version, you ask?
Design-wise, it doesn’t share many of the familiar traits of other HG releases, which is good since that means we get to experience something new here. We would even go as far as to say that the designs are even more radical than what we’ve seen with the HGTWFM kits.

The other thing we noticed recently when looking at the HGGQX GQuuuuuuX’s sample kit that one of my coworkers worked on is that the kit is smaller than most HG kits we’ve worked on. Some bits were so small that we thought we were looking at an RG part. So we feel that despite looking bulky, the HGGQX Military Police Zaku will be smaller than your HGUC Zaku’s.
Though it won’t be an issue for most of us, it could be a deal-breaker for some who aren’t keen on working on small kits like this. But then again, we aren’t sure how small the bits would be for the HGGQX Military Police Zaku are, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it had a lot of small bits just like we’ve seen on the HGGQX GQuuuuuuX.
Even with that said, we are still looking forward to getting this kit, mainly because we are looking forward to seeing what new tech Bandai put in this kit.

The other things we liked about the HGGQX Zaku were the color scheme and the decals. From what we can see here, the color scheme of the HGGQX Military Police Zaku looks entirely on point with its anime counterpart. But then again, since the Military Police Zaku is only on one color tone, it’s hard not to screw up. Plus, we reckon this would be the only kit that might not need color correction stickers since almost everything is in one color tone.
But then again, we’ll see if that is the case when we get our hands on this kit, and yes, we are looking forward to it.
HG 1/144 AMX-101 Gallus-J (HGUC)

Release Date: August 2025
Estimated price: JPY 2,750 (MYR 81.75* / USD 18.48* / EUR 17.13*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Yes, we admit that the other kit we look forward to is another HG kit. We know it’s sad, but when we saw all the retail announcements at this time, there wasn’t anything interesting from either the RG or MG sides (Well, that was before we saw the other teaser, but we’ll get to that).
But hey, even though the RG and MG releases are a bit meh, we are still glad we are getting some badass HG kits.
You might be wondering why we are looking forward to this.
Well, because we have always been big fans of the Gallus-J, and we always knew that since they are technically the same thing, it wouldn’t take Bandai a lot of effort to convert the existing Unicorn’s HGUC Schuzrum-Gallus into the ZZ Gundam’s Gallus-J. However, when Bandai took so long to make the HGUC Gallus-J’s announcement, we started to believe that the only way that we would get the ZZ Gundam version was if they decided to release it as a P-Bandai release.
And thank god that isn’t the case here.

But then again, there is a perfectly good reason why it took this long to get this version: despite what we believed, this shouldn’t just be a simple conversion.
Because compared to the Unicorn version, a lot needs to be done to convert this into the ZZ Gundam version. For instance, they needed to rework the chest armor and give it new arm, waist, and leg units. Lastly, Bandai also needed to redesign the backpack unit and the missile launcher-beam rifle thing, too.

So, we underestimated the level of work one needs to do here. So, it makes sense why it took Bandai this long. All that is left is for us to get our hands on it and see how much they changed and how much of the old bits still remain in this new version.
So, did they do a good job here?
Honestly? Yes, they did.
We are all looking forward to getting this, and we are surprised to learn that we’re looking forward to this more than the other two retail kits we haven’t discussed yet.
And yes, we definitely will be getting this one.
This concludes the 603rd edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. We still have two more kits to discuss, and we’ll continue the discussion in this Saturday’s blog post. After that, we’ll move on to the new P-Bandai Gunpla release announcement that Bandai recently announced.
We’ll return to the upcoming segment this Saturday (hopefully) to continue this discussion in a new blog post! So do look forward to that!
