Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.620

Its Gyanko approved

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 620th edition of our ‘Let’s Talk Gunpla’ post, we’ll take a slight detour from our Shizuoka Hobby Show discussion to discuss the latest HGGQX release announcements from the retail side. Yes, amid the Shizuoka Hobby Show reveals, we have another HGGQX release announcement made in the same week, and it is one that we are sure Gyanko would approve of.

So, without further ado, let us get into it, shall we?

A properly elegant MS design

Honestly, we were planning to release another Shizuoka Hobby show discussion blog post, since there is still a lot to go through. However, we figured we needed a change of pace (since we are still recovering from being collectively sick last week) and instead shifted our focus to discuss one of the Retail side’s latest Gunpla release announcements.

Like we mentioned at the start of this post, the kit in question is a HGGQX kit that has been announced while we are still talking about releases from the Shizuoka Hobby Show.

Honestly? We are quite surprised that they announced another new kit while people are still hyped about all the reveals from the Shizuoka Hobby Show. It is even more impressive to know that they still have something up their sleeves that no one knows about.

It is impressive that they managed to keep this under wraps while the Shizuoka Hobby Show is still on going

Well, to those that haven’t watched the GQuuuuuuX anime, that is.

However, what really impressed us was how awesome it looked.

Yes, we’ve seen a lot of awesome Mecha designs from this series, but we honestly think the Gyan redesign here is probably one of the best ones we’ve seen to date.

Admittedly, there are better-looking MS redesigns from the episode that this Gyan debuted in, but strangely enough, we haven’t heard anything on the other two. So we reckon we might see Bandai announce them in the upcoming Hobby New Item showcase.

Anyways, let’s talk more about why we like this kit, shall we?

Oh yes there is a lot to talk about here

There is a lot to love about this release. For one, we finally have a Gyan redesign that will be able to attract newbies. Yes, even though we have developed a further appreciation for the OG Gyan’s design over the years, let’s be honest here, the OG Gyan’s design isn’t something for everyone, despite Bandai’s best effort to make more people fall in love with the Gyan’s design.

Well, that is until we got Khara’s design team to redesign the Iconic MS in the Gundam series, that is.

The best part about this redesign is that they didn’t just give the Gyan an awesome makeover; they even went as far as to redesign its iconic Beam saber into a cooler and sleeker look. But the thing that we love the most about this kit is that Bandai even gave this kit a HUGE and badass rocket lance.

They could’ve just give us a simple Gyan with just one beam saber, but they instead decided to go above and beyond for this Gyan

We might not know what the use of this HUGE lance is for since we haven’t watched any bit of the GQuuuuuuX show yet, but just its inclusion alone was enough to convince us to want to get this awesome thing. Plus, it is not every day that we get a kit with a huge handheld weapon like this.

What’s more, we like Bandai’s confidence in the strength of HGGQX Gyan’s joints that they even include a promotional picture showing us that you can have the HGGQX Gyan pose in its iconic stance with the HUGE Rocket Lance without having to utilize the stand that is included with it. However, we suspect that wouldn’t be such a good idea if you are thinking of displaying the kit long term.

It’s impressive to see how confident Bandai is with its joints system that they are comfortable enough to show us this
Although we are sure most of us will be using the stand to do this

But the best thing about this redesign is that, unlike the other HGGQX Redesigns, this is the one that looks almost identical to the original version.

Admittedly, it’s not 100 percent the same, since you still get the same GQX mecha design themes here and there. What we mean by this is that the MS designs still do not have proper skirt armor like the other Gundam series, the Gyan also looked a lot more humanoid, and yes, it still looked like a Temu version of the Rebuild of Evangelion’s Evas.

It’s not like it’s a bad thing; at the end of the day, we still get a really good-looking kit. Although the more we observed the redesigns and some of the original designs Khara has done for the GQX series so far, we wouldn’t be surprised if they revealed the GQuuuuuuX to have more EVA-like nature.

And yes, we are looking forward to getting this one, just because we are a fan of that HUGE lance.

hopefully we can pose this kit without having to put blue tack on its feet

This concludes the 620th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. It’s nice that we are finally able to cover this one. We have been itching to write about this one ever since Bandai revealed it while we are still working on the Shizuoka Hobby Show Gunpla reveals.

Although we have a feeling that we might see more HGQX releases soon.

Anyway, we will be back soon with a new blog post! So we do look forward to seeing you guys then!

Also, you might have noticed a slight change to our posts, which is because we recently added a donation tab to our posts to help keep this site running and to fund our future projects. However, we want to clarify that we will not be placing any of our content behind a paywall. All of our content will remain free for everyone to access.

The reason why we decided to add the donation tab is that after managing this blog with our funds for so long, we’ve found that even with ads, it hasn’t been enough to maintain the site without putting ourselves in debt. We have tried our best not to resort to this, since we are doing this blog for fun, and we really didn’t plan to earn money from doing this.

But ever since the start of the year, we have been struggling financially to keep this site going, and we refuse to give this site up after putting so much work into it.

So that is why, for the first time after running this site for so long, we are finally asking for help from you, our readers.

If you appreciate what we do and want us to continue providing this content, we would greatly appreciate any support through donations to help keep us afloat.
