HELLO! We are back!
In today’s 633rd edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we’ll discuss one of The Gundam Base Limited’s latest Gunpla release announcements. Honestly, we were surprised by this one because all this time we expected P-Bandai to be the one to release this, but regardless, we are glad that the Gundam Base is the one that released this one, so there will be a much bigger chance for us to snag one without having to sell our organs to get one.
So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?
HG 1/144 The Gundam Base Limited AMX-123X Vargui [w/ Gundam head and Psycho Plates] (HGUC)

Release Date: 23rd August 2025
Estimated price: JPY 4,400 (MYR 125.90* / USD 29.78* / EUR 25.71*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Honestly? We were at a loss for words when we saw this Gundam Base announcement, because we were sure that P-Bandai would LOVE to be the one to release this version of the Varguil.
Why wouldn’t they want to, especially considering that this is the kind of kit that we imagine P-Bandai would love to release, since all they needed to do was just reuse the HGUC Varguil molds and give it a new head mold to recreate this version. It’s easy money for them, really.
So, that is what we are getting here?
Yes, and no.
Because you’re getting a version of the HGUC Varguil that comes with plates and a Gundam head, but then again, when you think about it, isn’t that just the recolored HGUC Moon Gundam? Yes, we know that the original version is also a recolored HGUC Moon Gundam, but what sets that version apart from the Gundam Base Limited’s version is that the P-Bandai’s version gets a fin funnel (and fin funnel storage attached to the backpack unit) and a monoeye head unit.

But for this version? As we stated earlier, this is just a recolored version of the HGUC Moon. So if you want, you can easily recreate this version using all the same bits from the HGUC Moon without having to do any major modifications to get this variant of the Varguil. All you really needed to do was just recolor it.
So, yeah, that is what you’re getting here with this version, just the HGUC Moon Gundam in Varguil and TITANS colors, but at the very least, you are getting some pretty sick Varguil decals to make up for it.
So, yeah, we are not expecting the Gundam Base Limited to add anything new here.

But even with that said, we don’t mind getting it, since we are fans of the Retail HGUC Moon Gundam, and despite it being more or less the same, we still think it’s a really good value. Yes, we know that we can easily get this version just by repainting the HGUC Moon Gundam. But since we don’t have the time or energy to do that, that is why we prefer to just buy this version instead.
Plus, it is a really good kit. So, we are not complaining.
But if you have both the time and energy to do so. You can always paint this version using all the same bits from the HGUC Moon Gundam. It’s probably one of the easiest ones to recreate, since all you need to do is repaint the whole kit. No need to do any major part modifications or add anything.

Also, it is nice to see that Gundam Base Limited is the one releasing this; at least we know there will be a higher possibility for us to secure one at a reasonable price without having to deal with scalpers. Well, that is as long as we can get our bums to any of the countries with a Gundam Base store, that is.
But still, it is a hell of a lot better than dealing with scalpers.
This concludes the 633rd edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. A real nice surprise from the Gundam Base chaps this. Even though we were expecting to see this version of the Varguil eventually, but didn’t expect the Gundam Base side to be the one to sell us this version.
We really thought P-Bandai would want to get their hands on this.
Anyways, we will return to discuss the P-Bandai announcements in the next blog post, and that one will be a longer post since they announced several new kits. So do look forward to that!
Also, you might have noticed a slight change to our posts, which is because we recently added a donation tab to our posts to help keep this site running and to fund our future projects. However, we want to clarify that we will not be placing any of our content behind a paywall. All of our content will remain free for everyone to access.
The reason why we decided to add the donation tab is that after managing this blog with our funds for so long, we’ve found that even with ads, it hasn’t been enough to maintain the site without putting ourselves in debt. We have tried our best not to resort to this, since we are doing this blog for fun, and we really didn’t plan to earn money from doing this.
However, since the start of the year, we have been struggling financially to keep this site running, and we refuse to give up on it after putting so much work into it.
So that is why, for the first time after running this site for so long, we are finally asking for help from you, our readers.
If you appreciate what we do and want us to continue providing this content, we would greatly appreciate any support through donations to help keep us afloat.
