This is not AI Slop, just GM SLOEP.
HELLO! We are back!
In today’s 635th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we’ll continue where we left off with the P-Bandai announcements and cover two of last week’s P-Bandai Gunpla release announcements.
So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?
HG 1/144 RGM-79U GM Sloep (HGO:MSD)

Release Date: October 2025
Estimated price: JPY 3,520 (MYR 100.61* / USD 23.87* / EUR 20.38*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Let’s start this post with the latest one out of the three announcements, because, honestly? It is amazing to be able to see a new MSD release in 2025. I commend P-Bandai’s effort in keeping this line alive even in 2025.
But at the same time, seeing how popular the HG Origins manga, anime, and kits are, we do wonder why Sunrise & Bandai haven’t considered fully adapting the Origins series into a proper anime. We do think Bandai would be able to attract more people to the hobby if they were to do that.
But even with that said, we admit that we are not Sunrise nor Bandai, so we can’t say what is going through their minds when it comes to this.

All we can talk about here in this blog is mostly about Gunplas, so that is what we are going to do today.
So with that out of the way, what do we think of this kit?
We are quite taken by the GM Sloep here. Why?
Well, for one, we are getting another Aquatic GM, but this one is from the MSV design that we admit that we are not that familiar with.
But even with that said, even though we might not be familiar with some elements of this kit, like the backpack unit, leg attachment, and the sonar gun, the rest of this kit we are quite familiar with, since the main body is from the Retail version of the HGOrigins GM.

But we are not going to talk about the familiar bits; we are going to talk about the new bits that we are getting here. Admittedly, the sonar gun is the most boring bit out all the things that we get here, since the design is quite simple, but we admit that we are more of a fan of the leg attachment and the GM Sloep’s backpack unit.
From what we can see from the promotional materials, it does look like you can attach the leg unit by just attaching it to its leg. It looks like P-Bandai implied here that you can just clip it to the leg without needing to install any additional bits to the leg.
And the backpack unit? That is really the part that sells us the idea of getting this. Because it looks like they just attached a huge submersible to the GM’s back and called it in.

But that is not the only thing that we find interesting, because despite its size, you can still move the whole backpack at a 30° angle. How is this possible? We are not sure if it’s from some modification done to the GM Sloep’s body unit or if P-Bandai added a new chest attachment for the GM Sloep. But from the looks of it, we reckon it is the latter.
However, from what little info we learn from the lore, it does state that the sensor pod (the small camera thing that is attached to the GM Sloep’s Backpack unit) can be detached via a cable system.

And yes, they did include the cables with this release, so you can recreate the drone gimmick. From the looks of it does look like P-Bandai include in a strong and flexible cable (the same cable that they use for those kits that come with incom or wired funnels), so you can have it posed on a stand with no issue we reckon.
Honestly, this is starting to be that one release that we are looking forward most to getting this year. Obviously, via proper means, not from 3rd party resellers or scalpers. So, that means we shall wait until P-Bandai decides to re-list the preorder for this on their Shopee page again.
HG 1/144 RGM-79 Light Type Guncannon (Sayla Mass’s Custom)[HGGQX]

Release Date: October 2025
Estimated price: JPY 2,530 (MYR 72.73* / USD 17.16* / EUR 14.66*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Ever since we saw this one, we secretly hoped that Bandai would change their minds and have this one released as a regular Retail release. Why wouldn’t we want this as a Retail release? It is one of the best MS designs from the GQuuuuuuX series, and best of all? It is the only time we get to see a Guncannon getting the OG Grandpa color treatment in an official anime.
So, as a fan of both the OG series and GQuuuuuuX, of course, we hoped that Bandai would reconsider releasing this as a Retail release.
But it was a fool’s hope, it seems, because from this announcement it is clear that P-Bandai is still adamant to release this version of the Light-Type Guncannon under its Premium banner.

But is that a bad thing? It’s not like it is any different than the recently released Retail version of the Light-Type Guncannon.
Yes, this is indeed only a recolored version of the Retail version, and yes, Sayla isn’t one of the main cast of the GQuuuuuuX anime. But releasing this as a retail release would make for a nice gesture to longtime fans of the OG series. It would be nice to know that one can always have a piece of the OG series in this anime without having to needlessly overspend.
Plus, it is nice to have a good-looking kit.
But even with that said, we admit that this is technically just the same kit from the retail side. From the main body, beam rifle, and equipment, it’s all the same; the only thing that sets this apart from the retail version is the color scheme, and you also get the same HGGQX’s Red Gundam’s Gundam Hammer included here.

Which explains why this is a bit more expensive than its Retail counterpart.
But ultimately, is it worth it to get this version of the Guncannon? To be honest? Only if you’re a collector or a fan. Why do we say this? Well, it’s not because we don’t like this, it’s more like we feel that unless you’re willing to wait for P-Bandai to reopen another batch of preorders, it’s not really worth spending more than its retail asking price to get something that is more or less the same thing. Especially if you’re new to the hobby.
We admit that we also fall in the category. Because we do like what we see here, but we also admit that we are unwilling to fork out a stupid amount of money to get this.

Because we think it’s going to be a lot cheaper if we suck it up and wait for P-Bandai to reopen the preorders for this kit, or if we can’t wait, repaint the retail version instead of unnecessarily paying more to get this one.
Why not suck it up and just get from resellers, you ask? Well, easy, we are done being a part of the scalping problem.
It must stop somewhere, right?
This concludes the 6345h edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. We still have one more kit to discuss, but we are keeping it for the next blog post we have planned.
Just because it has been quiet recently, we want to take it easy before the next big retail announcements come.
Anyway, we will continue this P-Bandai discussion again in the next blog post. So do look forward to that!
Also, you might have noticed a slight change to our posts, which is because we recently added a donation tab to our posts to help keep this site running and to fund our future projects. However, we want to clarify that we will not be placing any of our content behind a paywall. All of our content will remain free for everyone to access.
The reason why we decided to add the donation tab is that after managing this blog with our funds for so long, we’ve found that even with ads, it hasn’t been enough to maintain the site without putting ourselves in debt. We have tried our best not to resort to this, since we are doing this blog for fun, and we really didn’t plan to earn money from doing this.
However, since the start of the year, we have been struggling financially to keep this site running, and we refuse to give up on it after putting so much work into it.
So that is why, for the first time after running this site for so long, we are finally asking for help from you, our readers.
If you appreciate what we do and want us to continue providing this content, we would greatly appreciate any support through donations to help keep us afloat.
