A 1/144 scaled Astray dragon
HELLO! We are back!
In today’s 649th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we’ll be taking the time to discuss one of P-Bandai’s latest Gunpla release announcements. Since we’ve been away for a while, P-Bandai has been really busy announcing one new kit after another, but we’re not going to cover all of them in today’s segment. Instead, cover one in every post since both retail and the Gundam Base side aren’t announcing anything new or interesting.
So, today we’re going to cover the latest P-Bandai release announcements out of the two release announcements that we got from the P-Bandai side. So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?
RG 1/144 MBF-P02 Gundam Astray Red Dragon (RG)

Release Date: February 2026
Estimated price: JPY 4,950 (MYR 131.55* / USD 31.89* / EUR 27.33*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

It is strange, but lately we have been seeing an abundance of MG Astray Red Dragon sold everywhere. We were wondering why we are seeing more of them so suddenly, when there were barely any of them sold anywhere that we saw in the past few months, and then we see P-Bandai drop this release announcement news.
Sneaky P-Bandai.
But honestly? We aren’t that surprised that we are finally getting this kit as an RG release, since the MG version is still selling like hotcakes over here. Plus, it is a nice surprise for fans of the RG Astray to finally know that they are getting the best version of the Astray in RG form.
So, the question now is, what do we think about this release, you ask? If you’re familiar with the MG version, you will know the answer to this question. But if you’re not, well, what sets this version apart from the retail version is that this version comes with a new beam V-Fin for the Astray’s Head unit, and we also get the modified version of the Astray Flight Unit with the Caletvwitch (they replace the wings on for that) and Ddraig Head attached to the Flight Unit.

But the rest? It’s just the same thing that we get with all the other RG Astray Red Frame variants.
But is that really a bad thing? Not really, since we do enjoy working on the RG Astray, so honestly? We really don’t mind having another kit to work on. Plus, it would be interesting to see how the modified backpack unit works on the RG Astray here.
Not to mention, the RG version does look a lot more detailed compared to the MG version, so it would be something we’re excited for. Since we are big fans of the RG line’s style of its ultra-detailed parts.

Although we admit that looking at this kit, we start to wonder if it would come with waterslides or if we would get the same sticker decals as its retail version. It would be really nice to get waterslides for this kit, but we have a feeling that we might still get sticker decals for this release as well.
However, it is nice to know that P-Bandai does include a stand for both the Caletvwitch, so that you can pull off some badass poses with the Astray with both of the very heavy Caletvwitch swords.
All in all, this does look like a really awesome kit made for fans of the Astray. And since we are also fans of the RG Astray, this is really a kit that we don’t mind getting.

With that, we conclude the 649th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. It’s really nice to finally see that we are getting the RG version of the Astray Red Dragon. We were really wondering if we would see the RG version in our lifetime. So it is really nice to know that P-Bandai ensures that we don’t have to wait that long to get the RG version.
Now all we hope for is that 2026 will be an uneventful year, so we can have an uninterrupted Gunpla release in 2026.
Anyways, we will return with a new blog post, so do look forward to that!
Also, you may have noticed a slight change to our posts: we recently added a donation tab to help keep this site running and fund our future Gunpla-related projects. However, we want to clarify to all of you here that adding a donation tab doesn’t mean we will place any of our existing or future content behind a paywall. All of our content will remain free for everyone to access, whether or not you decide to donate to us.
But that doesn’t mean we don’t have something special for those who helped us keep the site running. We do! However, we are still finalizing some details, and we will have something special planned for our donors! But for now, with everything that has been happening, we still need some time before we can confirm anything.
Also, the main reason why we decided to add the donation tab is that after managing this blog with our funds for so long, we’ve found that even with ads, it hasn’t been enough to maintain the site without putting ourselves in debt. We have tried our best not to resort to this, since we are doing this blog for fun and really didn’t plan to earn money from it.
However, since the start of the year, we have been struggling financially to keep this site running. Despite many difficulties, we refuse to give up on it after putting so much work into it. Not to mention, we do not want to disappoint our loyal readers.
So that is why, for the first time after running this site for so long, we are finally asking for help from you, our readers.
If you appreciate what we do and want us to continue providing this content, we would greatly appreciate any support through donations to keep us afloat.
