This is what happens when the Zeeks went too far

HELLO! We are back!

In this today’s 118th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will continue on where we left off last Wednesday with some more of the retail kit announcements. Today we would be primarily would be focused on continuing the talk about the other HGBD: R’s kit releases. It is a tall order, that is why we will still pick three of the releases and hopefully we can finish all of them off by the next following week.

Plus, we feel like it is better for us to just take it slow and just really take our time to digest what we feel with them kits.

So without further ado, let us start, shall we?

Bandai is really going all out releasing some weird looking Gundams this time around

One of the two HGBD: R Earthtree Gundams’s variants. The Core Gundam (G3 Color) is something of a curious one. Because unlike what we saw with the HGBD: R Earthtree Gundam, we do think that the Core Gundam (G3 Color) looks alot better when we compare the looks in between the two.

That might be attributed to its color scheme and the badass arm attached weapons. Which is something that we do admit that reminds us of the riggings on them ship girls from the Kancolle and Azur Lane series.

It’s interesting to know that you can take the Veetwo armor off and turn it into this…weird plane like thing.

Although, it does look alot better than the HGBD: R Earthtree, however, we are still there are still things that we are seeing here that we don’t actually like like its leg unit and its whole Earthtree inherited looks.

It should be noted as well that just like the HGBD: R Earthtree, you can as well have the Core Gundam (G3 Color) to be turned into the same hilarious mode as well.

You can as well turn the Core into the same hilarious mode as the HGBD: R’S Earthtree

So the question is now, is the much-improved look of the Core Gundam is enough to make us want to get this version? hmm…well not really. Because despite it looking better then the HGBD: R Earthtree, the base design of the Core isn’t really something that we are that keen with if we were, to be honest.

So we might as well give this one a pass as well.

HG 1/144 Core Gundam (Real Type Color) & Marsfour unit (HGBD: R)

HG 1/144 Core Gundam (Real Type Color) & Marsfour unit (HGBD: R)

If the Core Gundam (G3 color) looks good, this…looks even better.

The HGBD: R Core Gundam started off quite strong here with the (G3 Color) variant, but this we really think seals the deal for all us here.

Because damn we are all a real sucker for red MS.

There is actually a good reason for this, because despite us not liking some elements of the base design of the Eathtree/Core gundam. But for this version, we do find there were alot more to love here with the Core Gundam (Real Type Color) Marsfour version compared to the other two that we’ve talked before.

Like for an instance, we actually really love the red and white color combination that is used here, it definitely looks better then what we see with the previous two kits. What’s more, the aggressive design of the leg unit for the Core Gundam Marsfour is something that we really enjoy seeing. We do think that the aggressive look of the Core Gundam Marsfour’s feet fits well with the overall color scheme of the kit.

Even the HGBD: R Core Gundam (Real Type Color) Marsfour’s equipment looked quite dope. Like the HGBD: R Core Gundam (G3 Color)’s weapons, it as well had an arm attached weapons, but instead of having a built-in cannon like the HGBD: R  Core Gundam (G3 Color), it instead had an arm attached bladed weapons. Which does indicate that this version is more specialized for close-quarters combat.

Just like the Core Gundam (G3 Color) the HGBD: R Core Gundam (Real Type color) Marsfour armor can as well be taken off to turn them into this plane-like thing

Even the ‘midget’ version of this kit looks badass. Though it does have the same overall design, it is the color that was used here, the “Real Type” color scheme which makes it look really good. Yes, the HGBD: R Core Gundam It might not be one of the most well-designed gundam from the Gundam Build series, but the HGBD: R Core Gundam is probably one of the most unique kits that we’ve seen coming from this line of kits.

I think the midget version of this prolly has one the dopest one that we’ve seen so far.

WE might get this one, just because it actually looks quite dope here.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the next one that we would be talking about…

HG 1/144 Nu-Zeon Gundam (HGBD: R)

HG 1/144 Nu-Zeon Gundam (HGBD: R)

Release Date: 2019/11

Estimated price: JPY 2,635* (MYR RM 103.52* / USD $ 24.79* / EUR € 22.35*)

*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation
Overcompensating much?

This particular HGBD: R really took us all here quite an awhile to digest.

Because this is the result of you mating the Nu Gundam with the GP02, the Sazabi, and the Zeong. What’s more, you as well top it all off with giving it a “Zeon” inspired look, to finish it all off. Yes, as we all take a closer look at this HGBD: R kit we all here think that the HGBD: R Nu-Zeon Gundam is indeed a weird mishmash of kits together forming into one.

One that we feel that looks like something of a Zeon’s wet dream.

Even with that said, we do admit that this is the kind of ridiculous look that we like to see. Because the whole kit looked like something the Designers had alot of fun making. Because even though it looks stupid, looking at it makes us smile and that is something that we do think that the design of HGBD: R Earthtree/Core Gundam is lacking.

The ‘fun’ factor of the look.

That enough about the looks, let us talk about the kit itself, shall we?

At first glance, we thought that the HGBD: R Nu-Zeon is basically just a kit that had alot of the elements of the existing HG’s combined into one kit. However, after we take a more in-depth look at some of these parts, we realized that most of the parts that we are seeing here was parts taken from HGUC Nu-Gundam only. The rest was still something that we see from the HGUC Nu-Gundam, but just highly modified to make it seem like it is a different set of parts.

Same-same but different

So in a way we are expecting this kit to have all the same mechanism as what we see with the original HGUC Nu-Gundam.

The Chest unit, the arm unit, the Zeong inspired fin cover, the weird funnel-like thing that was attached at the HGBD: R Nu-Zeon’s back, the badass looking sword with the Zeon emblem attached to it and the sweet Char Red, is some of the new things that was included here for the HGBD: R Nu-Zeong.

Which does make us wonder how would all of these things would work together in a frame that is by now is already 11 years old. I do hope it works well because admittedly we in love with this kit HARD, and truth to be told, we would be tremendously sad if the ‘old’ bits don’t work well with the new bits.

But at the same time, we won’t be that surprised by it.

With that concludes today’s 118th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment! What do you think of this 3 HGBD: R Retail release announcements? Are you looking forward to this batch of upcoming Retail releases? We are really starting to see some insane creations coming from the retail side, but it does make us wonder if this is just the start of the insanity?

Because we have a feeling that Bandai wouldn’t just stop with just these.

Anyways, we will be back again with more gunpla news on the next coming Wednesday and Friday! Kimi will be back again in this Monday with a review for the HG 1/144 WMS-003 Maganac (HGAC)! So do look forward to that! 😀
