Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.533

A nice new MG F90 kit

HELLO! We’re back!

In today’s 533rd edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla, we’ll discuss one of P-Bandai’s recent exclusive Gunpla release announcements. Interestingly, we’re getting another new MG F90 Mission Pack!

And this is one mission pack that really makes the MG F90 look different.

So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?

MG 1/100 F90N Gundam F90 N Type (MG)

Release Date: May 2024
Estimated price: JPY 6,600 (MYR 208.82* / USD 43.93* / EUR 40.61*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

What happens when you combine the MS designs from the Zeta series, Nu Gundam, and F90 in one MS design?

You’d get the MG F90’s N-Type mission pack, which might be one of the other better-looking Mission packs from the series!

It is clear that we’ve once again found ourselves impressed by P-Bandai’s latest offering to the MG F90 Mission pack lineup. Even though we have been getting MG F90 Mission Pack types inspired by other MS designs from the UC series, this might be the first time we see all the best elements of the UC series rolled into one Mission Pack upgrade.

So, what elements from this N-Type Mission pack are inspired by the UC series we’re talking about here? Well, you get the fin funnels from the Nu-Gundam, the fighter backpack system from the Super Gundam upgrade (or from the ZZ series), and some elements of the Z Gundam design.

You might think that combining all of these things will make this version of the F90 look weird, but somehow, the designers of the N-Type mission pack managed to make it look somewhat badass and coherent.

But best of all, we can see that all of these translate well in Gunpla form, especially when looking at the MG F90’s N-Type fighter/backpack unit. It looks absolutely gorgeous, and the N-Type reminds us a bit of the Super Gundam’s backpack unit and the ZZ’s backpack unit design. Speaking of ZZ, installing the N-Type backpack unit to the MG F90 also adds more armor to the MG F90, which reminds us of the Full-Armor ZZ.

We know that we’re talking a lot about its ZZ inspiration, but you might be wondering where is the Zeta’s inspiration that we discussed earlier. Well, that is on the N-Type’s shield design.

The only thing we’re a bit on the fence is the beam Rifle design. Though we think it’s nice that it has fin funnels (this is where the nu-Gundam inspiration comes from) attached to it, it does have this somewhat unfinished look at some parts of it that we’re not a fan of. But then again, we can reuse the standard F90 rifle if the N-Type rifle doesn’t work out for us.

But best of all, this kit comes with one whole MG F90 Unit two. So, that may explain why the price is higher than the other MG F90 Mission packs and why we’re getting only one Mission Pack variant for this release.

But even with that said, we look forward to getting this P-Bandai MG kit.

And that concludes our 533rd edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. It’s nice to see a new P-Bandai MG release announcement made. But admittedly, we’re sad that we haven’t heard of a new regular Retail MG release announcement. We hope that there is one around the corner. Heck, even a new RG release announcement would be music to our ears by now.

Anyways.

We’ll be back next Thursday (hopefully) with a new blog post. So do look forward to it!
