Double Dragon
HELLO! We are back!
In today’s 556th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we’ll discuss another of the P-Bandai side’s latest Gunpla release announcements. Yes, P-Bandai has been quite busy lately, and we can see that they’re trying to make up for lost time.
We find it funny that P-Bandai feels the need to do so, especially considering that half of the Gunpla releases we have seen this year have come from them.
Anyways.
So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?
HG 1/144 XXXG-01S2 Altron Gundam (HGAC)

Release Date: October 2024
Estimated price: JPY 2,640 (MYR 77.42* / USD 16.41* / EUR 15.34*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

We are surprised it took them this long to finally announce the HGAC Altron Gundam.
Although we might not be the biggest fans of this MS design from the Wing Gundam series, we feel for the fans of this particular design who have to wait two years for Bandai (in this case, P-Bandai) to release the HGAC Altron.
But after spending time looking at this particular release, we are starting to believe that the wait might be worth it because even we (nonfan) can see how badass this thing looks.
So what is new here, you ask?

When compared to the HGAC Shenlong, quite a lot actually. You get two Dragon Fang arms, new shoulder armor, new head and leg units, and the badass twin-beam trident. There are so many new bits here that you can even say this will be a completely new kit.
However.
This version still retains the main body, arm unit (and its extending mechanism), and waist unit from the HGAC Shenlong. But that is about it.
The other thing we liked about this P-Bandai release is that despite both arms now having the Dragon Fang feature, it looked pretty stable in the promotional materials. But you might think, hey, it looked stable because they made it look that way.

Worry not—we have the same thought, so we decided to ask those who have built the HGAC Shenlong since it does look like it had the same feature. From our conversations with people who had experience building the HGAC Shenlong, we learned that they never had an issue with the arm unit that had the Dragon Fang. Since this version inherits the same system, they reckon it would be as stable and as good as the one you get on the HGAC Shenlong.
The reason for its stability? It’s because it’s partially a parts former. Not that we are surprised with, if we’re honest. We expected it since it was supposed to be so (lore-wise), and heck, it is an HG kit, so we aren’t expecting Bandai to do anything mind-boggling from it.
If we’re honest? Looking at how this looked, we believe fans of the Shenlong are getting their money’s worth from the upcoming HGAC Altron. It looked good, and it looks like its anime counterpart.

It just sucks that both this and the HGAC Shenlong are P-Bandai exclusives.
That concludes our 556th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. Again, we are getting another interesting P-Bandai release! If we’re honest, there is another P-Bandai release we have yet to cover, but we’ll leave that for next week.
Because we have a lot to say about that one.
Anyhow.
We’ll return in the upcoming segment next Thursday (hopefully) with a new blog post! So do look forward to that!

IDK if anyone pinted this out yet, but the Shenlong isn’t P-Bandai.
