This is one hell of a good-looking remake.
HELLO! We are back!
In today’s 564th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we’ll discuss one of the P-Bandai side’s latest Gunpla announcements! Once again, we are getting something new from the P-Bandai exclusive MG line: the currently ongoing MG F90 A to Z Mission pack series.
But we aren’t getting a new Mission pack kit; instead, we’re getting a whole new MG kit.
So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?
MG 1/100 F90III-Y Cluster Gundam (MG)

Release Date: October 2024
Estimated price: JPY 6,600 (MYR 201.20* / USD 44.75* / EUR 41.01*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Admittedly, when we saw the MG Cluster Gundam for the first time, we were all in awe.
It looked so good, and what’s more, we never imagined that we would be getting a modern version of the Cluster Gundam so soon in 2024. We thought P-Bandai would wait to have all the rest released before getting to this because there aren’t many mission packs left to release.
But regardless of why they decided to release this early, we are happy that we’re finally getting a modernized version of this fantastic MS design in 2024.
Out of all the no-grade kits that need modernizing, this definitely does—especially considering that almost every builder who built it has loved working on the no-grade version. So, it makes sense for Bandai to release a modernized version of it.

But the question remains: will P-Bandai lean towards making it look as detailed inside and out as the MG Jegan, or would they be lazy and make it look more like the MG Zaku Warrior line?
Honestly? After building the MG F90? We have a feeling that this might be a bit of both.
You still get some excellent details on some bits, but we wouldn’t be surprised if P-Bandai focused more on making this kit stable and have good articulation instead of making it more detail-savvy.
Honestly? We aren’t sure how we feel about that.

But even with what we said about P-Bandai’s lack of focus on making this a more detailed kit, admittedly, the MG Cluster Gundam is still quite a good-looking MG kit. We love that Bandai still kept the 90’s Mecha aesthetic on this version and made minimal changes to make it look slightly modern. It is a testament to how good this MS design is even after 31 years.
However, despite keeping the old looks, the rest of this kit doesn’t inherit bits from the old no-grade kit. Unlike the old no-grade kit, the modern iteration of the Cluster Gundam has much better articulation, which is unsurprising since this modern redesign of the old MS design and it also comes with a modern MG articulation system and build processes. Even with that said, it is a significant improvement over the no-grade kit.
But the question now is whether this is as good as some recent releases; it still needs to be seen.

Also, it is nice that P-Bandai redesigned everything we got in the no-grade version in this new version. We love the new look of the Cluster Gundam’s Core Fighter and the two Bazookas.
The only unfortunate thing about this release is that Bandai is releasing the MG Cluster Gundam under the P-Bandai banner. So obviously, as soon as we made that futile attempt to Preorder this kit, it was gone instantly.
It is unfortunate but also, at the same time, not unexpected anymore at this stage.
This concludes the 564th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. Looking at this release makes us sad.
Why?
Once again, we are getting a new MG kit under the P-Bandai banner. Looking at how Bandai is slowly shifting away from the Gundam series and focusing on releasing other IPs in plamo form is the wrong move from Bandai.
We understand their need to diversify, but it would be better to focus on their current line consistently. Yes, it is nice that we are getting cheap waifu kits from Bandai, but we’d prefer that they give us more MG kits instead.
Leave the waifu domination to the koto guys. We don’t need Bandai to go down that road.
Anyhow.
We’ll return in the upcoming segment this coming Saturday (hopefully) with a new blog post! So do look forward to that!

Apparently those crappy resin waifu statues sell for hundreds. No wonder they want to get in on that game.
Still, more good kits please! MG Mermaid Gundam when?!
