Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.14

the day we all decided to check out P-Bandai JP

Hello and a very good day to all our readers here! We are back with another Let’s Talk Gunpla, now in its 14th edition, we are going to finally take a look at the Japanese P-Bandai website! We kind of realised that we all haven’t really haven’t check out the Japanese website.

Though now we know that we shouldn’t be doing that, it really is something that is not good for our health. Now we are helping to spread the pain for all of us to share. Haha.

And without further ado let’s start with…

The HGUC 21st Century Real Type Ver. series

The 21st Century Real Type Color Ver. Limited run series

This was the first thing that greeted us when we first stumbled into the P-Bandai Japan is the HGUC 21st Century Real Type ver. kits. The reissue of these very sought-after kits was first announced and launched back in June 2016 as a limited run release. The kits that were included in this series were the Guncannon, Gouf and the Gundam, all of them dons very awesome looking real type colours (except for one of it).

You guys probably thinking why do the box art, the colours and even the decals look quite 80-ish? Well, that is because 21st Century Real Type Ver. kits colours, the box art and the decals were all based on the March 1982 released kits, which was were all made in 1/100 scale. The 21st century real type ver series does give the kits a more 80’s rendition of their version of a militaristic look mobile suits of the one year war and a much closer look that Tomino wanted in the Gundam Series originally.

The 2016 version box-art

Let’s start talking about the awesome kits here but instead of covering all three of them at the same time, we instead cover the kits individually here so we can give an honest opinion to it all. Let’s start with the…

  1. HG 1/144 RX-77 Guncannon (HGUC)(21st Century Real Type Ver.)
HG 1/144 RX-77 Guncannon (HGUC)(21st Century Real Type Ver.)

Release Date: 2017/10

Estimated price: JPY 1,512* (MYR 59.04* / USD $13.79*)

*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation.

Why are you looking so awesome

Guncannon, have always been Kimi’s fav (besides the Zaku II and the GM units) since he as well as most of us here in the Kimi the Builder blog as we all started off with this hobby. It always has been a Mobile Suit from the one year war that has the most awesome looking weapons (especially its awesome looking beam rifle) and as well a Mobile suit that plays a very important role (fighting side by side with the Gundam) all throughout the One Year War.

Honestly, we love this mobile suit so much, that we kinda wish there were more versions of this mobile suit made for the Gundam series. As well we all share the same feelings on the 1999 HG version, that kit was a charming little plastic thing and one that we are all had fun building. It was one of those kits that Kimi rated very highly of as it was really his first original Gundam series kit that he owned and one that he has mostly fond memories of as he started off with this hobby.

Love the colour and the look of this kit.

When he heard of the Revive Guncannon kit announced, he was still quite reluctant to get the kit as he doesn’t want to ruin the good fond memories he has of the 1999 kit if it turns out to be shite. However, we think he might change his mind after looking at this awesome looking 21st Century Real type version of the Guncannon.

As opposed to the original Guncannon, the red on this kit is a bit darker as compared to the original and as well this is given a lot more decals as its predecessors. With all those combined, it really managed to give this kit a very different feel to this awesome mobile suit. A familiar, yet so different feel to it.

and the decals here really look on point af.

For the nostalgia and the awesome look, this kit gets a 10/10! We would definitely not pass this one up.

And the next one on the list is…

  1. HG 1/144 MS-07 Gouf (HGUC)(21st Century Real Type Ver.)
HG 1/144 MS-07 Gouf (HGUC)(21st Century Real Type Ver.)

Release Date: 2017/10

Estimated price: JPY 1,836* (MYR 71.69* / USD $16.75*)

*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation.

despite the crap colour scheme the Gouf looks awesome overall

Gouf’s are an awesome mobile suit, piloted by Gundam anime’s most lovable character ever; Rambal Ral. How many of us remember that final scene and just go fuuuucccckkkkkk nooooooooooooooooooooooooo, when everytime we think of that scene all of us can’t help ourselves to cry and shed a tear for this great gentle warrior. Honestly, Rambal Ral you are an awesome man.

The infamous scene

So, when we saw this we are like, wtf is this green and yellow shit. Though it was supposed to pay homage and to capture what they thought at the time (the 80s were a dope time for this show to have been born) was realistic, they should’ve gone with a better scheme of colour like, full on sand brown colour maybe. Not this crappy colour scheme.

In the middle of the battle, Rambal Ral forgot to fight look

As well the decals on this….doesn’t suit the mobile suit at all when you look at it. It made the mobile suit feels like it was piloted by some royalty for recreational fun instead of a mobile suit that is piloted by ace pilots. Then again this is a reimagining of the classic what if’s series, though, in all honesty, they should’ve kept the blue for this one.

Oh, your gentle blue giant how we miss you.

Though we don’t like how it looks, we really can’t deny it still has its weird charm despite all of that. So, it’s a good buy for you collectors out there or if you are a Rambal Ral fan. Don’t pass this one up, but everyone else? Buy the blue one, it will be a better kit to look at. So for this one, we’ll give it an 8/10 a good buy, but one that we’ll pass.

This is still an awesome look though

Finally, now we can get down to the last of this series the….

What a homage to a classic this is

We remember talking about this kit back on the last Let’s talk Gunpla. We believe it was back on vol.11? when we are talking about the Gundam Local Type (Noth American Front) Gundam the origins MSV? Yeah, we were a bit salty when we heard that this was released back in June 2016 as a limited run kit, because of look at it…..

1000117263_6 (1)
what a glorious little thing you

Imagine how we all feel when we saw this kit again on sale on P-Bandai JP, the massive feeling of selling our organs for this small piece of plastic just overwhelms us. How can you not look at this and think, “I’m so going to pass this up”. It’s a crime if you do because just look at IT!

Just for that reason alone, we are selling our kidneys for one. 10/10 will buy. Gonna be finding that buyer somehow

With that done, now we can finally get to the reason we all wish that we didn’t have logged in to P-Bandai JP. The last entry for this segment too.

you are so bad for me but yet I still want you so bad.

GM Sniper II was an awesome kit to introduce the beginner MG enthusiast on the awesomeness of this line of kit. It wasn’t a kit that is filled with detail but it was one that was easy on the hands and somewhat fun to build even for the seasonal builder. The kit was further improved by the P-Bandai release of the White Dingo version, with the kit given a 3.0 ver. manipulators (hands for you new to this hobby) and making it into an awesome version overall.

But never have we imagined that P-Bandai would come to us while playing careless whisper and fucks us hard by releasing the RGM-79 GS GM Command Space.

Oh you look so awesome

Really, we heard that this kit was coming but never have we imagined that it would come in the P-Bandai form and P-Bandai had the gall to tell us the bullshit that it was a part of the P-Bandai ACE PILOT LOG series. I don’t understand why the GM’S aren’t given the same amount of love as how the Zaku II was.

Heck, we are all in with more Zakus in our lives but we want more GM’s too. They deserve more recognition and credit to their presence in the one-year war battlefields. I really thought that Bandai would consider giving the GM’s more official love. But I suppose after looking at this I’ve lost all hope of that ever becoming real. I just hope the cold districts type is not released as a P-Bandai though, but then again, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was.

mg-gm-command-space-type (10)
Bandai you are breaking my heart with this one.

About the kit though? We think it looks awesome as hell, the beam spray looks more awesome than the one we’ve seen on the HG version (also the 120mm machine gun on this kit looks sick as hell) and as well the colour is really awesome. We really have fallen in love with this one and that’s what made us really sad.

Why do you do this to us Bandai? Why rape our wallets like this? Don’t we all deserve better? I’m disappointed with you, Bandai. Like really.

mg-gm-command-space-type (6)
Really, Bandai? This is not a traditional release?

But we still love you and still going to give you money for this one, but please think of us more next time. Please? No matter how we feel about this one we are still giving this one a 10/10 just because we really wanted more GM’s in the wild and hope for the Zaku II FZ variant is coming.

That would really be the day indeed, hope that P-Bandai doesn’t have any ideas for this one…HOPEFULLY.

So that’s a wrap for this edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla! It was a frustrating one to write if we may be honest but one that is filled with things that we really wanted to have. Yes, there is a lot more for us to write about, not just the ones listed. To be honest, though, the announcement of the GM really takes a lot sinking in for us as we were all kinda excited of the rumours and then to have our hopes dashed to bits seeing the actual kit here. In P-Bandai no less. Don’t worry though we will cover the rest of the announcement on the next instalment of this series! Do look forward to that!

Overall what do you think of the announcements? Are you guys excited for any of them? Are you guys are as upset reading the announcement of the GM Command Space? We all sure did. Though we would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on the announcements here. We do enjoy responding and engaging with all of you guys here.

Anyways, that’s all for today, We do hope that you enjoy this edition of let’s talk gunpla, Please do leave a like if you enjoy this article! We really appreciate your support! We hope you all have an awesome day and week ahead and we shall see you all again on Sunday! Keep on being awesome and keep on building guys!

  1. P-Bandai was a sin. The GM Command deserves better, especially since the HG is so sub-par. I think it’s safe to say the CM Cold Districts and normal GM Command will also be premium.

    Fuck that P label.

    1. I really hope that is not the case man, my heart would definitely break for bandai if this does happen.

I love the cold districts type kit man i have been waiting for the MG version of it for so long…
