Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.28

Year-end insanities

Hello and welcome back all of you to our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment! In our 28th volume, we will be talking about a few very interesting P-Bandai recent announcements and one very early initial traditional retail announcement. It seems that Bandai does have a lot of new kits lined up for all of us and it seems like we are going to have a very busy (and very broke) year ahead!

Regardless, we are looking forward to of the two traditional release kits released this week like the MG 1/100 GM Sniper Custom and the RG 1/144 MS-06R-2 Zaku II Johnny Ridden Custom, we already have purchased the MG GM Sniper Custom that was recently released in the Malaysian market, but we are still waiting for the RG MS-06R-2 Zaku II to arrive at our shores (don’t know why the RG is taking time since supposedly it was released the same week as the MG GM Sniper Custom). We are really looking forward to getting that one in our hands, that would really be a great Christmas gift for all of us here indeed.

We sure hope Bandai doesn’t release a P-Bandai variant for these kits just yet, it would really suck if they do.

A dark green GM Sniper Custom unit

Godammit, P-Bandai. Do you have to? Can you just let us praise you for once?

I mean, its good that you are releasing more MG GM’s but we do appreciate it if you were to give us time to save up for it. There is just too many kits for us to get in Jan 2018 and so much more from this year that we haven’t had our paws on it yet. There are just so many kits…..

Just so many…

To make things harder for all of us here, this kit is really one that we feel looks better than the actual retail release. To start it up, we have to talk about the color for this variant. Though the retail release was as well had a green color scheme, however for this variant, the green made to be much darker and with the decals of the kit installed, it made this variant look even more militaristic than the original kit that it was based from. We love the color scheme on the retail GM Sniper Custom but with the P-Bandai version, they made the GM Sniper Custom look so much better (sexier too) overall. The kit itself, there isn’t much to talk about, since it is just a GM Sniper with a different color scheme, but not to say that is a bad thing, in fact, we welcome more GM variants, especially ones based from the MG GM Ver.2.0 kits. Those were awesome kits and one is as fun to make as the Zaku II Ver.2.0 kits.

Still one of the best poses, but with the worse looking beam rifle yet.

Though the same cannot be said for its Beam Sniper Rifle, oh don’t get us wrong we don’t mean the original version but this P-Bandai’s version (or better known as theTenneth.A.Jung version). Looking at that rifle, we can’t help to feel that it doesn’t mix with the overall look for the GM Sniper Custom and we are glad that they still provide us with the original beam sniper rifle, because we feel if we ever get this variant it would definitely look better with the original rile instead of that abomination and yes it still inherits the weapons set from the Retail Release so you can really ditch that rifle for something else indeed.

Oh, just so you guys know, this GM is released under the Ace Pilot Log line so that’s why if you guys notice, the overall design of the decals here is just plain awesome. We personally love the look of the unit Emblem that was placed on the arm unit for this GM Sniper Custom, if we are not mistaken the same can be said for the decals of the MG GM Command Space-Variant as well had some pretty sweet decals as well. Do have to wait until we have that in our hands to confirm that, but regardless so far, the decals design for the Ace Pilot log series has never disappointed us and we always look forward for new kits under this line actually.

Look we can do a unicorn pose too.

Regardless, looking at this we can’t really recommend this kit to everyone since we do feel there is nothing much there is to the P-Bandai variant of the Tenneth.A.Jung GM have to offer as compared to the Retail Release of the normal variant. Only get this one if you have the funds and if you really fancy this variant over the original version. Honestly, we feel there isn’t much that you will miss if you pass this version up.

But even with that being said, we have to admit. We probably get this variant up, since we really do fancy the look and because we are just really a retarded gunpla nuts. We are just so hopeless in that sense.

Though we sure hope that they won’t turn the MS-06R-1A into a P-Bandai release.

Its still have a huge array of weapon set, the orginal beam sniper rifle is still one of the best looking weapons to date.

RG 1/144 MS-06R-1A Zaku II Shin Matsunaga Custom (P-Bandai Release)

RG 1/144 MS-06R-1A Zaku II Shin Matsunaga Custom (P-Bandai Release)

Release Date: 2018/01

Estimated price: JPY 3,240* (MYR 119.79* / USD $29.13*)

*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Well technically it is not hard to not turn this one into a P-Bandai item since from the stills that we saw with the MS-06R-2 variant, you can just simply swap the parts up but dang we were hoping to get a retail release of this. It really hurts our wallets seeing this coming as a P-Bandai kit.

Oh well at least we are getting the Shin Matsunaga version, so at least that is something.

and what a kit for them to have as a P-Bandai indeed

From the promotional stills that we are seeing, it doesn’t seem like there are any major changes made to the kit itself (well since Bandai made the RG R-2 can be easily converted to the R-1A variant, so we can see them not including some parts of the R-2 for this variant), well maybe the placement of the back-pack holder is moved to the centre as compared to the R-2 version (which is placed slightly more on the left), but in terms of parts there isn’t much difference that we can see here with the R-2 version.

Though the changes that were made for the MS-06R-1A is on to the overall color and as well on some aspects of the 30mm Bazooka. The MG version Shin Matsunaga’s Zaku II in our honest opinion has been the best MG Zaku II variants out of all and the RG variant here looks EVEN better than the MG version. I think by far its best Zaku II variants yet and if you don’t know what we’re on about we’ll put a picture here and let it do all the talking instead.

B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L ain’t it?

What a handsome kit this is, not to mention the look of that bazooka. Honestly, this is a no-brainer to us all here because we are so getting this one up, and to those that have purchased the RG MS-06R-2 and aswell the ones that have owned the MG version of this excellent MS, this kit is a must get. Yes, the price upon launch is going to be pretty insane and plus we don’t know if the RG MS-06R-2 is a good kit or not but with Kimi’s recent encounter with the recently released, acquired and reviewed RG Unicorn Gundam, does make the prospect of future RG releases to be really promising.

Though we will update our thoughts on this as soon as we reviewed the RG MS-06R-2, maybe then we would give our verdicts then? For now though? Just by the looks alone, yes we are getting this one up.

How could you say no to this.

The unicorn mode here looks so much more hardcore than the first version.

Oh yes finally! After a week hearing about bits and pieces of the Banshee Norn. Its good to finally to be able to talk about it, plus with what we now know of how awesome the RG Unicorn really is. We have no doubt that this is going to be something that is going to be awesome as hell because the unicorn is by far the best RG kit out there currently and for us to have another variant of it so soon? Honestly? Is something we are really happy about.

and thank the gods this is not P-Bandai.

The kit itself had some upgrades over the normal Unicorn, like the upgrades on the horn, backpack unit, new additional attachments on the beam magnum and that sleek dark blue/yellow (with a hint of gold) color scheme. Regardless, of the major upgrades given to the Banshee Norn overall, it is still the same Unicorn kit. So, we can expect the strong fundamentals foundations to be there still.

That means this is still going to be an awesome kit just by the looks of it.

Not to mention that look.

God damn the Destroy mode here is insane

We love that color scheme, but not so much on that horn. Actually, we all really don’t like the overall design of the horns on the Banshee when they first showcased the Banshee in the anime. When every time we saw that horn, we can’t help ourselves to think that it’s a waste of sharp materials there when they could’ve just used the horns as a weapon instead. like if the Banshee just run of options it can always use its horns to pierce its enemies?

I guess when we look at it that way, the horns on the Banshee is not that bad then.

But overall the Banshee Norn is a pretty badass looking kit. One that I feel shouldn’t be missed as a fan of the unicorn or not because honestly, the unicorn, in general, is an awesome kit to build.

We here are definitely getting this one up and oh, before we forget, as for how it was with the unicorn, this one as well comes with two versions of the boxes. One will be the premium (unicorn mode box-art) version and the normal (destroy mode box-art) version.

We here already made up our minds in which box we are going for, and we are really looking forward to getting this in February!

The inner frame here is abit……..meh

Though, we have a tiny bit of suspicion that the first Banshee iteration might come out as a P-Bandai kit, hell we don’t want that to be the case but at this rate, we might not be surprised if it does, to be honest.

Though what would get us right now is that if they were to announce it right after this is released. that would really be the tits indeed.

That’s all we have for you peeps this week with the 28th episode of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. What do you guys think of the overall announcements of the kits? Does any catch your fancy? This time there is a lot of announcements that we are looking forward towards and the best one out of all is definitely the RG MS-06R-1A Zaku II h announcement haha. We are so looking forward to getting that one up, and if the MS-06R-2 turns out to be brilliant, that would just sweeten the deal for sure. Regardless, we do look forward to reading and responding to your comments and thoughts on the announcements and as well to this post!
