Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.125

Finally some good looking kits for the HGBD: R line up.

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 125th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will be finally be taking a look at some of the HUGE Retail release announcements that was made recently. There are really alot of VERY interesting kits that was announced this week that we are aching to talk about, but for today we will talk about the 3 from this week’s announcements that we do find them to be quite interesting to talk about.

So without further ado, let us get into it, shall we?

HG 1/144 Gundam Seltsam (HGBD: R)

This is by far one of the best looking HGBD: R kits that we have seen to date.

We admit that have been bashing the HGBD: R’s Gunpla designs alot here.

Mainly due to most of the releases that we’ve seen coming from this particular line up has been disappointing us all in terms of the looks department. Even though the HGBD: R line up did come close in giving us something good, with the HGBD: R Justice Knight Gundam, but unfortunately even with that HGBD: R kit we find that not everyone that we know shares the same feelings as we.

However, we finally might have something from the HGBD: R that would make us all agree on the looks. Because it does look like now Bandai really have one kit that might help people to at least be interested with the upcoming show and the kit in question is the upcoming HGBD: R Gundam Seltsam.

Even in its normal pose, the HGBD: R Gundam Seltsam looked like a winner. A winner of hearts

A kit that combines both its badass design and badass choice of color into one that we all here really feel to be one of the best looking HGBD: R kit that we’ve seen to date. What’s more, we really think that this is one HGBD: R kit that has one of the most original designs out of all the HGBD kits that we have seen to date. Even though there are sections of the kits that looked quite familiar, however, we really have been struggling to find what is this kit is based upon since there is nothing that we see here that we are familiar with.

Although, we do admit that we can actually see some elements of Zeta Gundam, 00, IBO and Seed elements are thrown in creating this gunpla. We do as well like the ‘unfinished’ look of the HGBD: R Seltsem because it does fit into the overall look of this HGBD: R kit and it’s not every day that you’d see a gunpla kit that is able to pull off this look that well.

The unfinished look of the HGBD: R Seltsam is what makes us really fall in love with the kit

Obviously, this particular HGBD: R kit has been winning many hearts here in the Homebase. It looked so good that even to some of us here which is a bit skeptical about the series is starting to have thoughts about giving this series a chance.

That is how good much we loved the look of this badass HGBD: R kit and yes we are definitely will be getting this one for sure.

A more complete version of the RG ν Gundam

This is really one news that we all here didn’t really find it to be surprising.

However, we are actually quite surprised that we are seeing the RETAIL side to be announcing this instead of our usual suspects. Something that by now we kind of expecting to see P-Bandai doing.

However, we do admit that to see the retail side to be doing this instead is something that we are quite glad to see done. Because we do think that the RG ν Gundam is one of those kits that really works best with a proper working stand and as well to see that this set comes with the Jet effect pack for the Fin Funnels, really manages to sell the idea of getting this to some of us here that haven’t yet gotten the kit.

In which we are as well sure that to some of you here that haven’t yet gotten the kit this might be the one to get if you are still playing around with the idea of getting the RG ν Gundam.

The perfect version to those that haven’t yet gotten the RG ν Gundam

Even with that said, it is not like the stuff that comes with the set is specially made for the RG ν Gundam. As you may have noticed on the title, this set is from an existing effect set and Action base unit that Bandai has already made for their plamo kits. So if you are expecting a customized stand like with what you get with the MG series, you may find yourself to be a bit disappointed with what you are getting here.

Regardless, of that said fact, we still feel that it is quite nice that the Retail side is the one releasing this instead of letting their ‘overpriced’ division run rampant with releasing this.

SD Gundam Cross Silhouette XXXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero EW (SDCS)

The best pose, in SD

For this last panel, we all here had a long debate on what to showcase here for today’s segment. Because we were really torn in between talking about this and another HGBD kit and plus, we don’t usually cover SD’s in the early Let’s Talk Gunpla segments. However, after a while, we really think that this is really one SD kit that we think deserves to be on today’s segment.

Why? Well, one of the reasons for this is that ever since the launch of the SDCS line up to the public, we really feel that this particular SD kit line up is really slowly becoming the talk of the town. With alot of the seasoned builders that we’ve met recommending us to give this line up a try. We are starting to feel like the Bandai finally got it right with the SD line up.

It as well shows in their newest release of the SD Gundam Cross Silhouette series of the Wing Gundam Zero EW, one of the hardest Gundam (in our opinion) to turn into an SD form.

Surprisingly enough this is one SD kit that Bandai has kept failing to make it look good.

Because we have seen Bandai attempt to re-create the Wing Gundam Zero many times in SD form and failed. Is either the wing mechanism doesn’t really work as intended or the whole kit itself looking like an Instagram influencer without filters (or thick makeup). However, from what we are seeing here, it doesn’t seem like the said can be said for this particular SDCS kit.

From its insane details, an almost HG-like gimmick and a badass look. Really manages to convert most SD skeptics like us into a believer of the SDCS line up.

Usually, we would see Bandai capitalizing on the hype train with releasing subpar kits if the reception is good for that particular line-up of kits. However, we really don’t feel like they are doing that here, for once we saw this as a kit that they are really creating out of passion. For once we felt like they are really trying to create a real SD masterpiece here.

Even though in the SD form the Wing Zero does look good, but in its CS form, the Wing Zero looked even better.

And it looked even better in its CS form. Which is one the main reason why we are really looking forward to getting this badass kit. We are really impressed by how far and how much the SD line up has evolved throughout the years.

We just really hope that this kit is one that is as good as its good looks.

With that concludes today’s 125th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment! What do you think of today’s Retail’s release announcement? Are you looking forward to all of the upcoming retail kit releases? Finally, we are really seeing the retail side really making up for lost time here. For once it looks like we might not have to suffer through looking at ugly HG kits again. Haha.

Although we still do have more awesome retail HG kits to talk about in the next coming Let’s Talk Gunpla, so do look forward to that!

Anyways, we will be back again with more gunpla news on this coming Friday and as well on the next coming Wednesday! Kimi will be back again this Monday with an Unboxing or a Review. So do look forward to that!
