The METAL BUILD insanity
HELLO! We are back!
In today’s 138th edition of Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will be taking a look at some of the other non-gunpla, Gundam related P-Bandai release announcements which we do find quite interesting.
Well specifically, we will be taking at one that we all here really find it to be the most interesting one. Which is actually one announcement from the Metal Build line up specifically.
So without further ado, let us get into it, shall we?
Metal Build GNY-001 Gundam Astraea High Maneuver Test Pack

Release Date: 2020/04
Estimated price: JPY 16,500* (MYR RM 635.95* / USD $ 151.85* / EUR € 136.77*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

We have a confession to make, which is that we all here never liked the Metal Build series.
However, it wasn’t because that we think it’s bad or anything, the reason why we didn’t really like the Metal Build line is the insane asking price that it was sold on. Like seriously, one would really be insane to want to get this.
It cost so much, and not content on just being expensive, Bandai as well made it in limited quantity which as well makes some of this already insanely expensive kit, become even more expensive. This is quite annoying because even though we do like some of them but we could never save enough to get these, which we admit does quite frustrate us here alot.
However, just because we hate the price that the Metal Build series as a whole was sold on, that doesn’t mean that we here don’t like the MS Designs that came out from the Metal Build series.

In fact, we all here really love almost all the MS designs from the Metal Build series. Even with this, the newest on to come to the lineup, the Metal Build Gundam Astraea High Maneuver Test Pack looks badass. It looked so good, that it managed to turn all of us here which is not a fan of the Astraea design, into a fan.
Why? Well because even though it does retain many of the same characteristics of the Astraea, but all the additional stuff that was add-in makes the plain old Astraea look like it just got out from a long work out. Well if we were to be more specific, it looks to us that the Astraea got the same coach that has been helping to buff up some of the badass MS’s for the Gundam Sentinel series.
Seriously, it’s hard for one to deny the inspirations taken in designing the Astraea High Maneuver Test Pack here. You can see it through its badass weapons and as well its pieces of equipment. We take a long look at it, we really can feel some UC-ish vibe from some of them. But even with that said, some of the pieces of equipment that you see here do look like something that was taken from the Avalanche Exia too.

However, what really makes this particular Metal Build kit to be really interesting to us here, is the fact that you can have different configurations set for the Astraea. From what we are seeing here, there are five forms that you can have this Astraea variant displayed, 3 forms for the close quarter’s combat weapon configuration and two forms for mid-long range support weapon configuration.
Which we do admit out of all the Metal Builds that we’ve seen, this might be the first one that really makes all us here feel like the asking price for this is really worth spending on. Because there is alot of Gundam you that get here.

Even with that kind of insane asking price, this might be one of the very first Metal Build kits that we might consider getting…if we have the money of course.
Which is highly unlikely that we would ever have in this short life of ours.
With that concludes today’s 138th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment! What do you think of this P-Bandai Gundam merch release announcement? Are you looking forward to this upcoming P-Bandai Gundam merch release? Frankly, we really didn’t expect to be covering the P-Bandai news again this week since we really thought of covering some of the retail side smaller Gunpla release announcements.
However, when we all take a look at this Metal Build kit, we knew that is no way for us to ignore this badass Metal Build kit. We really need to just vent it out here, and now we can really move on to some other new things that we wanted to talk about. That is unless if P-Bandai has another thing set to be announced.
Anyways, we will be back again with more gunpla news on the next coming Wednesday and as well on the next coming Friday! Kimi will be back again this Monday with an Unboxing or a review of a kit. So do look forward to that!
