Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.128

That additional content episode

HELLO! We are back!

In this today’s 128th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will be taking a look some of the ‘smaller’ retail releases that we ‘missed’. Yes, since it is quite a quiet week from both the P-Bandai and Retail side, we figured why don’t we really take the time to talk about the HGBD: R upcoming additional contents.

So without further ado let us get into it, shall we?

HG 1/144 InJustice Weapons (HGBD: R)

HG 1/144 InJustice Weapons Set (HGBD: R)

Release Date: 2019/12

Estimated price: JPY 595* (MYR RM 23.10* / USD $ 5.51* / EUR € 4.98*)

*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

We realized that in the past few recent segments, that we have kind of neglected talking about these ‘add-ons’ custom made parts made for the HGBD: R line up. The reason for this is mainly due to the fact that we think that both the Veetwo and the Marsfour weapons set isn’t as interesting as the previous weapons set that we’ve seen coming from the HG Build Divers series.

However, the same cannot be said for the ones that was announced recently. Which we do admit that we felt bad for not talking about it because both of the new ones that was announced by the retail side, looked quite badass. One of them is this…

The InJustice Weapons set.

Not to be confused with the comic series and game with the same name.

Looking at a name alone, we can already imagine a certain fan of western comic or gamer might be confused into thinking that these weapons set are related to their game/comic series.

Even for us, we really can’t help to think of those things too when we look at the title, we really thought if Bandai suddenly decided to go all into this superhero theme with this series. However, as interesting as the title might be, we are sad to report that this set doesn’t have anything to do with the said series at all.

Which is a bit sad, because of we kind of hoping that Bandai would do some sort of superhero-themed collab for their Gunpla releases. Although, we can imagine it to be released as a P-Bandai if they ever thought of doing something along the lines of that…

Anyways, although upon closer inspection on the InJustice Weapon set, we can tell that this isn’t in any way any different from the one that we see with the HGBD: R Justice Knight Gundam’s weapons set. Well, except for the slightly darker color scheme of this set.

Yes, thats the only difference between this version and the one seen on the HGBD: R Justice Knight Gundam’s. Although we do admit that we all here are quite a fan of the HGBD: R InJustice Weapons Set’s dark blue/ dark grey color combination here. It does look alot more appealing when compared to the HGBD: R Justice Knight Gundam’s weapon’s set. We as well admit that the color scheme that is used here does remind us of a certain ‘bat-person’ superhero’s suit color scheme from the aforementioned comic series.

all that is left now is the logo

Annnnyyyywwwaaaayyysssss, we do admit as we take a closer look on this set, that at the very least now we do have a clearer picture on how the backpack or the ‘wing’ unit of the HGBD: R Justice Knight Gundam would look, and we have to say…that we are not really fan of that ‘wing’ unit. Because we feel like that is a downgrade of what we get from the kit that it was based on, the HG SEED Justice Gundam’s awesome Fatum-oo flight unit.

We really didn’t get why didn’t they just made some more ‘cosmetic’ changes to it to make it look medieval-ish, instead of downgrading it to….this ugly thing.

Although it the wing unit isn’t something that we are a fan with but seeing it replacing the Strike Freedom Gundam’s wings and making it look badass, is something that we might consider doing on our own HG Strike Freedoms

Regardless, of our feelings on the HGBD: R InJustice Weapons Set and the Justice Knight Gundam’s ‘wing’ unit, we do think that getting this for the weapons alone its a good justification if you are thinking of getting this. Because we really do think that the Weapons included here are an interesting addition if you are planning to customize your Gunplas using this set.

Especially if you are thinking of maybe doing a custom Crossbone Vanguard-ish looking Gunplas.

HG 1/144 Mass-Production Zeonic Sword (HGBD: R)

HG 1/144 Mass-Production Zeonic Sword (HGBD: R)

Release Date: 2019/12

Estimated price: JPY 765* (MYR RM 29.67* / USD $ 7.08* / EUR € 6.40*)

*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

Even though we are not really big fans of the look of the HGBD: R Nu-Zeon Gundam, but we all here admit that we are a fan of that Zeon themed modification to the Tactical Arms II sword, that Nu-Zeon Gundam had. So ever since we saw it on the HGBD: R Nu-Zeon Gundam we really hoped that Bandai would release just the sword as a separate release.

Thankfully, with the recent retail announcements, it looks like we don’t really have to go out of our way to go get the Nu-Zeon Gundam to get our hands on this bad boy. Because now you can just go out and just get this, the HGBD: R Mass-Production Zeonic Sword. A.K.A the stand-alone version of the Zeonic Sword that we see with the HGBD: R Nu-Zeon Gundam.

Thank the plastic gods for that.

Just like how it is with the HGBD: R InJustice Weapons Set, it does seem like we are getting the same thing like we see with the HGBD: R Nu-Zeon Gundam’s Zeonic Sword with just a different color scheme. However, unlike the on the Nu-Zeon’s version, we rather like the color scheme used on this version. Which is kind of funny when we think about it because we all think that both this and the HGBD: R InJustice Weapon set looked better compared to the ‘original’ ones.

This is what we exactly have in mind to do with our HG Origins Zaku II

What’s more, like the one we saw comes with the HGBD: R Nu-Zeon Gundam this set as well comes with a stand to help you pose this massive weapon, and it is an inclusion that we all welcome with open arms.

The one thing that I like about this is how we finally get to see more of what the Zeonic Sword, in general, can do besides just being a sword. Like the Tactical Arms II Weapon system that the Zeonic Sword is based on, you can have a secondary mode on the weapon which from what we can deduce here looks more like something akin to the bean weapon.

One that we do admit increases our interest in getting this badass weapon as soon as we can. This is one that is without a doubt, one that we all look forward to getting and to add into our collection of Gunpla weapons for the Homebase.

We shall kill you using the power of love and friendship

With that concludes today’s 128th edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment! What do you think of these Retail release announcements? Are you looking forward to all of these upcoming Retail kit releases? Frankly, we are quite happy that both this and the HGBD: R InJustice Weapon set looked different compared to the ones seen on both the HGBD: Justice Knight Gundam and the HGBD: R Nu-Zeon Gundam. It does make us these two expansion feels like it is both a worthwhile kit to have as both a collection and as an extension to your gunplas

We really hope that they would continue on releasing parts that look different compared to the ones seen that come together with their respective kits.

Anyways, we will be back again with more gunpla news on the next coming Wednesday and as well on the next coming Friday! Kimi will be back again in this Monday with an Unboxing or a review of a kit. So do look forward to that!
