Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.153

Lets Talk Gunpla Vol.153

Purple moon

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 153rd edition Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will be going back to the P-Bandai Japan side to take a look at their newest Premium Gunpla offerings. This time it seems that we finally have word on their first P-Bandai HG Moon Gundam kit release date and  as well one very interesting HG Sentinel announcement. It does look like we are going to be having a very interesting day, today indeed.

So without further ado, let us get into it, shall we?

The beautiful purple moon

Let us start today’s segment by first having a discussion about the P-Bandai HGUC Moon kit that we are most excited about, the HGUC Varguil the kit that has been teased by Bandai weeks prior but we never get the official release date for yet. Before the official announcement was made, we thought with the lack of updates coming from the P-Bandai side, that they may want to push the announcement for this HGUC kit earlier next year. In which may place the kits release somewhere in the middle of the 2020 or we as well thought that there is as well that possibility that we as well may not be seeing the release of this at all.

So you can imagine how insanely excited we all here feel when we finally have an official word from the P-Bandai chaps on the HG Varguil’s release date.

But our excitement for the release of this was further increased after we all sat down and take a much closer look at the HG Varguil. Because we all here can’t help to feel like this particular P-Bandai HGUC kit looks, quite glorious indeed.

This might be one of the best shots of the HGUC Varguil.

We all here love the subtle changes that was made by P-Bandai to the HG Moon Gundam’s frame to make the HG Varguil possible. These changes could be seen on the backpack unit (with the addition of the Funnel Rack), the head unit (which looks really badass) and as well the awesome purple/black color scheme combo for all the parts.

Though, looking at it we don’t really expect the building experience of the kit to be any different compared to what we all here experianced with the HGUC Moon Gundam since most of the HGUC Moon’s characteristics was mostly retained here. However, we are quite curious to see how the new ‘Varguil’ parts would actually look and fit on the HGUC Moon’s frame. Moreover, it would be really nice to have both the Varguil and the Moon posed together side by side.

This is how the Sazabi will look like when it decides to diet and not eat too much of that Minovsky Particles

We are definitely are quite excited for this one, and we really do look forward to possibly purchasing it when it comes to our shores in April 2020. This is really one P-Bandai HGUC kit that we don’t really mind spending our money on.

The insanely rare EXPO kit finally makes a return as a P-Bandai kit

This is quite an interesting kit to talk about. Because for one, we have already seen this kit released under the Gunpla EXPO tag back in 2014 and secondly we do feel that it’s quite interesting to see an EXPO kit getting re-released as a P-Bandai kit.

But all in all, we do wonder how those EXPO scalpers would feel seeing this kit HGUC being re-released as a P-Bandai kit? Prolly no that happy, we feel.

Regardless, looking at the HGUC Zeta Plus A1 (Test Color type) re-release as a P-Bandai kit, it does gives us hope that we may yet be able to see the MG Destiny Heine Westenfluss version be re-released under the P-Bandai tag one day. Since we are really starting to be a BIG fan of the Orange Destiny.

Seeing this gives us hope that one day we would see P-Bandai announcing the MG Orange Destiny

Anyways, enough of that. let us now look at this and finally answer the great question: ‘so what sets this apart from it retail or its EXPO counterparts?’

Well nothing much, because to those that are already quite familiar with the Expo version, this is basically the same thing to the retail variant. Even to those that aren’t familiar with the EXPO version but have built the retail version (The unicorn version that is), you will find that this (besides the color change of course), is basically the same thing as your retail kit.

That’s what we all here thought at first anyway, because of thanks to some of our eagle-eyed readers (A big thanks to both David Van Cleef and evildave666 for pointing this up) the difference in between the EXPO kit and this is that the seen on the decals. Because the EXPO kit comes with marking seals decals whilst this version comes with waterslides. Although it does retains many of the same decal design as what we’ve seen with the EXPO version, albeit that the waterslides will look ALOT better applied compared to the EXPO’s marking seal decals.

However, even with that being said, we do admit that it is quite a good looking kit overall. When we look back at how much fun we had with the retail version, we really can’t imagine this to be a bad kit. So even though we know that this is mostly the same kit, but the fact that it is based on a pretty decent HGUC kit is something that is worth investing Well as long as you are a big fan of this Sentinel kit that is.

Honestly speaking, it is quite nice that P-Bandai would take the time to re-release this rare EXPO Zeta Plus A1 kit. Because to those that missed the EXPO version and could not afford to fork out the insane asking price of them scalpers, at least now you can save up that money so you can fork it up for the insane asking price from P-Bandai instead.

But even with that said, we actually wouldn’t mind getting this one, because looking back we did have alot of fun putting the HGUC Zeta Plus A1 together, and if in the near future we do think about working on a new one, we really wouldn’t mind getting this whenever it hits our shores in this coming April 2020.

This is really one kit that we don’t mind getting

Well that is as long the kit is priced in a way that it wouldn’t make us puke blood when seeing how much it cost us that is.

With that concludes today’s 143rd edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment! What do you think of these P-Bandai release announcements? Are you looking forward to all of these upcoming P-Bandai Gunpla releases? Quite an interesting set of releases that we are seeing to have come from P-Bandai today. Although we are quite surprised to the EXPO getting that P-Bandai re-release. We really thought we would be only reduced into getting it from the damned scalpers.

So it was quite a nice surprise indeed.
