A clear-colored version that we can consider getting

HELLO! We are back! 

In today’s 467th edition of our Let’sTalk Gunpla segment, we will be taking the time to talk about The Gundam Base Limited’s latest Gunpla release! Yes, we are not going to talk about an upcoming announcement. Instead, we’re talking about a kit that is released. 

Nevertheless, it is one that we still find interesting to talk about. 

So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?

MG 1/100 The Gundam Base Limited MS-09 Dom [Clear Color] (MG)

Honestly, this is one of The Gundam Base Limited MG kits that we’re surprised to see that they made a ‘clear color version of. 

Why?

Because honestly, after looking at it, we feel the 2022 MG Dom doesn’t feel like an update to the 1999’s release. Building the 2022 MG Dom feels like building the same old MG kit that has some changes done to it. Admittedly, even though the updates were minimal, the updates made to the kit were enough to fix some of the nagging issues we have with the 1999 version. But still, it wasn’t enough to make builders feel that the improvements made to it were enough to justify getting another MG Dom kit. 

So, we are not surprised that the 2022 version of the MG Dom wasn’t received well by the Gunpla community. But it seems that doesn’t stop The Gundam Base Limited chaps from making a ‘Clear Color’ version of the 2022 MG Dom. 

Admittedly, after seeing the promotional materials for Gundam Base Limited’s version and despite what we feel about the retail version, we admit that The Gundam Base Limited chaps did good here. 

Because honestly, man, this Clear Color version of the 2022 MG Dom looks badass. The clear-colored version of the purple and black scheme looks absolutely fantastic on the Gundam Base Limited version of the 2022 MG Dom. Even the shiny gunmetal grey color scheme on the 2022 MG Dom chest cover looks good! 

Yes, it is still the same 2022 MG Dom, but at least now it looks better than its Retail counterpart. 

However, despite all of that, we admit that there is one thing that we are disappointed about here. And that would be how the shiny gunmetal grey color scheme looked on the Gundam Base Limited’s version of the 2022 MG Dom’s weapons. 

We are unsure why this version’s MG weapons look so bad in these promotional materials, especially when the same color scheme looks fantastic on the Gundam Base Limited’s 2022 MG Dom’s chest unit cover and backpack unit. But somehow, the same color scheme doesn’t look as good on its weapons.

But alas, as long as the rest of the kits look good, it doesn’t really matter. Right? 

Plus, you can always use the original retail weapons if you’re not keen on using the Gundam Base Limited’s version. 

All in all, this is one Gundam Base Limited we find ourselves quite interested in getting. But to be honest? We are unsure how we feel about building something almost similar to the 1999 version. Again. 

And that concludes our 467th edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. Honestly? We are surprised to find ourselves liking Gundam Base Limited’s version of the 2022 MG Dom. Because when we saw this announcement at first, we really didn’t expect to be interested in getting this, if we are honest.

But somehow, the Gundam Base Limited chaps made the idea of getting the 2022 MG Dom interesting again.
