Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.541

This could’ve been an expansion instead.

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 541st edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we’ll discuss one more of P-Bandai’s latest surprise Gunpla release announcements, announced yesterday. However, we are not getting another P-Bandai G-Unit release at this time. Instead, we’re getting something from the SEED FREEDOM’s side.

So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we?

HG 1/144 Black Knight Squad Rud-ro.A Triple Set (HGCE)

Release Date: July 2024
Estimated price: JPY 8,910 (MYR 276.98* / USD 57.85* / EUR 54.48*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

We aren’t surprised to see these three getting that P-Bandai treatment, especially after you’ve watched the SEED FREEDOM movie. But we admit that it wasn’t the case previously because, at first, we only speculated that back when they only revealed the designs and teased us with the prototype Gunplas, we predicted that if they didn’t include the colored parts with the retail release, the expansion or the entire team set will be released as a P-Bandai release.

But that stance changed after we watched the movie. Not to spoil anything for those who haven’t watched the film, but if you’re seeing this P-Bandai news, we hate to be the bringer of bad news, but yes, they all share the same features as the earlier HGCE Griffon’s Rud-ro.A release, and yes, they didn’t have much screen time either. Returning to the discussion of this kit, the only difference between this set and the retail version is that you get three sets of newly recolored small parts on the head, shoulder, chest, shield, and waist armor for the three HGCE Rud-ro.A kits.

If you’re thinking of maybe buying this for the lore behind those machines, well, don’t because, as we all have seen on some unicolor P-Bandai HG kits manual, they won’t bother with the lore when they can reuse the earlier releases manual or better yet, they might not bother and give you a barebones manual.

Honestly? You’d be better off buying a bottle of paint and painting the said parts yourself if you fancy getting the HGCE Rud-ro.A variant of your choice, heck, you can even paint the whole team, too, if you want, and we promise you that it would hurt less than trying to fight the scalpers to attempt to buy this set.

What baffles us about this release is that P-Bandai could’ve made the case for us to get this if they had included P-Bandai exclusive waterslide decals for all the Black Knight Squad Rud-ro.A team if you were still on the fence about buying this set. Then, it would be easier for the hardcore fans who care about these things to consider getting this.

But they didn’t even bother including anything worthwhile here.

So, that is why you shouldn’t bother getting this set since Bandai couldn’t give a damn here.

That concludes our 541st edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. We have seen many lazy releases from P-Bandai, but this might be the one to take the cake here. We wouldn’t mind it that much if they were to release expansion parts for the HGCE Rud-ro.A, but since they decided to release a whole bloody set and a lazy one, we can’t accept it.

Anyways.

We’ll be back this coming Thursday (hopefully, as long as the laptop will not give us more headaches) with a new blog post! Please do look forward to that!
